Nekonyancer[img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img67836fc45f14a6.21216867.jpg[/img] The year is 2964 and shopping malls are all the rage! Construction happens fast in the future. Each mall will be constructed according to their customers' wishes as they arrive! [green][tip] This tutorial will take about 10 minutes to complete and is best viewed on a computer![/green]1maintitlebar_content000
NekonyancerIn *Superstore 3000,* players will take turns taking tiles to expand their malls. Each tile will either bring in more customers or satisfy a customer's wish. If you're the first to meet certain requirements, you can incorporate fantastical *Attractions* into your mall! The game ends when the dispenser runs out of tiles or the last attraction is built. [green]Whoever has the most points wins![/green]2maintitlebar_content000
NekonyancerThere's probably a pop up on your screen right now, featuring some fancy balloons. *Just click on the X.* You don't need that information yet.3maintitlebar_content000
NekonyancerEach player started with a *main entrance.* Each main entrance has 3 *customers* on it. [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img67836fc5c7b2c5.30748660.jpg[/img] I know they look weird, but this is a bird's eye view. The blue parts are bases. The customers are wedged into them so they stand up.5attraction_37000
NekonyancerEach main entrance also has three *wish icons* on it - one for each customer. In this case, we have one customer who wants to see a *movie,* one who wants a *haircut,* and one who wants a *hamburger.* [blue]Some things never change, even in 2964.[/blue]6attraction_37000
NekonyancerTo satisfy our customers, we'll need to add stores to our mall. In 2964, stores are called *Elements,* and they all come from the *Dispenser 3000.* The dispenser has two columns of elements. The [red]*icons*[/red] between the columns indicate prices. Elements at the bottom are free. Elements just above those cost 1 *banknote,* then 2, then 3.7place-card-47-front000remaining-dab-counter-wrapper 1
NekonyancerWhen Elements are added to our mall, they must go on top of something. They can't simply float or dangle off to the side. [green]There are flying cars in the future, but no flying stores.[/green]8attraction_37000
NekonyancerOne of the free elements in the Dispenser is a movie theatre! That's perfect for us! *Click on the movie theatre.* Now BGA wants to know where we want to place it. *Place it above the left side of our main entrance.*9place-card-5-front010
Nekonyancer*Excellent!* When we built the movie theatre, the customer who wanted to see a movie automatically moved to it and lay down. This customer is now *satisfied.* [green][tip] At the end of the game, the players with the most satisfied customers will earn some extra points![/green]1attraction_56770b0728efa400
NekonyancerEach customer has only *one wish,* so this customer will never move again. I guess they're rather simple-minded. Unfortunately, they insist on impeccable service - so much so that each store can only cater to a *single customer!*2attraction_56770b0728efa400
NekonyancerBy the way, our mall only has stairs - no elevators or escalators - and customers are out of shape. They can only move *up to three tiles* to get to a store.3attraction_56770b0728efa400
NekonyancerNext, look back at the *Dispenser 3000.* After we took the movie theatre, all the Elements above it shifted down to fill the slot. A new Element was then drawn and inserted at the top. [blue]That's it for our turn! Now our opponent will go![/blue]4place-card-47-front6770b0728efa400
NekonyancerNext turn! There's a red Element at the bottom of the Dispenser. Red Elements are [red]*entrances.*[/red] Each entrance comes with two new customers! *Select the entrance. Place it above our movie theatre!*1place-card-7-front6770c62a1fa0410
NekonyancerOur new entrance came with another cinephile, but since each Element can only handle one customer, we'll have to build another movie theatre for them! Luckily, there's another one at the bottom of the dispenser. [green]Let's just hope our opponent doesn't take it...[/green]1attraction_76770c63da74c300
NekonyancerThey didn't take it! Great! *Select the movie theatre. Place it next to our first one.*4attraction_56770c6741001410
Nekonyancer[green]Okay, I think you got the hang of placing Elements![/green] Next, I'll explain [red]*Docking Bays.*[/red] Scroll down until you find them. [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img67836fc6c94267.85737737.jpg[/img]1player_name_119413546770c67dee58c00
Nekonyancer[blue]There are only eight available Docking Bays in each game - 4 gray and 4 brown.[/blue] When a player has at least *1* Element of *each color* (red/blue/yellow/green), they can take one of the *gray* ones. When they have *2* of each, they can take a *brown* one.2docking-bays6770c67dee58c00
NekonyancerEach player is only allowed to have 1 gray and 1 brown Docking Bay. [green][tip] If you need to see any of that information again, just hover over the Docking Bay dispenser![/green] [blue]I'll fast-forward a few turns now...[/blue]3docking-bays6770c67dee58c00
NekonyancerOur mall is off to a great start! We now have 1 Element of each color, so we can take our first Docking Bay! [blue]Unlike Elements, Docking Bays must be placed on the same floor as our Main Entrance.[/blue]1player_name_119413546770c6b447eea00
NekonyancerUnfortunately, taking a *Docking Bay* will use up our turn. We could take an Element instead and worry about Bays later, but I advise against it. Each Bay is different, and our opponent might take the one we want! *1. Scroll down* to the Docking Bays again. *2.* Select the *second* gray Docking Bay from the top. It has a [blue]blue arrow[/blue] on it. *3.* Place it to the *right* of our Main Entrance.2player_name_119413546770c6b447eea10
Nekonyancer*Great!* Docking Bays are important because they unlock whole new columns for placing Elements! The Docking Bay we took is worth 2 points, plus an additional point for each [blue]blue Element[/blue] in its column with a satisfied customer.1attraction_726770c6c269f3f00
NekonyancerWith that in mind, let's get another blue Element! There's a bookstore in the first column, but since it's in the second row, we'll have to [red]pay 1 Banknote[/red] to get it. *Select the bookstore. Place it in the third column, on the same floor as our other two blue Elements.*1place-card-45-front6770c6da6438110
Nekonyancer*Great!* There's another reason I wanted to add a blue Element here: it unlocked an *Attraction.* Attractions are gigantic fantastical facilities. They're worth a lot of points!1attraction_456770c6ee9ca1200
NekonyancerThere are five *Common Attractions* in each game (6 in a 4-player game). Each one has a different *requirement.* The first player to meet an Attraction's requirement can spend a turn to add it to their mall! [green]Racing for attractions is an essential strategic element in this game![/green]2attraction-card-3-front6770c6ee9ca1200
NekonyancerIn addition to the five *Common* Attractions, each player has one Attraction *reserved* just for them. [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img67836fc80d2ca1.10246217.jpg[/img] Our Reserved Attraction's requirement is 3 Elements of the same color on the same floor. We've done that, so we can build it!3player_name_119413546770c6ee9ca1200
Nekonyancer*1.* Scroll down and select our *Reserved Attraction.* [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img67836fc9213cf7.11912783.jpg[/img] *2.* Place it on the *3rd floor* in our *3rd column* so that it hangs off the right side of our mall.1player_name_119413546770c7010c45e10
Nekonyancer*Excellent!* Look carefully at the top of our attraction. Do you see two sections that are lighter in color? [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img67836fc9d3fb30.04351774.jpg[/img] Each one represents a slot for an Element!1attraction_646770c70901a4100
NekonyancerThat's right! In addition to being worth tons of points and just being super cool in general, *Attractions* let our mall extend into *more columns!* Attractions have one more useful feature: [red]all Elements that are connected to a single Attraction are considered adjacent.[/red]2attraction_646770c70901a4100
NekonyancerThe long-haired customer in our Main Entrance is still waiting patiently for a haircut, and remember, customers can only move *three spaces.*3attraction_376770c70901a4100
NekonyancerIf we find a hair salon, we could place it [red]above our Attraction.[/red] Since all connected Elements are adjacent, our customer would still be able to reach it! [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img67836fcad2e9b6.21297903.jpg[/img]4maintitlebar_content6770c70901a4100
Nekonyancer[blue]Okay, there's just one more thing I need to show you.[/blue] Instead of adding an Element to our mall, we can select one of the Elements in the bottom row and flip it over, converting it into a new *banknote!*1place-card-36-front6770c715437dd00
NekonyancerBut we can get more than just one banknote from this action. Whenever a player spends a banknote to take an expensive Element, those spent banknotes are placed here, in the [red]*bank.*[/red]2bank-counter-wrapper6770c715437dd00bank-counter-wrapper 1
NekonyancerIf a player converts an Element into a banknote, and there are available banknotes in the [red]*bank,*[/red] they can take *1 extra banknote* for each Element in the same column that matches the color of the Element they converted.3bank-counter-wrapper6770c715437dd00bank-counter-wrapper 1
NekonyancerFor example, if we convert the *ice cream Element* in the right column into a banknote, we'll get to take one extra banknote from the bank because there's another yellow Element in the same column. If we converted the hamburger Element in the other column, we would not!4ruler-11941354-level-16770c715437dd00
Nekonyancer[green]Let's try it![/green] *Select this ice cream Element. Click on [blue]"Take money"[/blue] at the top!*5place-card-36-front6770c715437dd10
Nekonyancer[green]Excellent! We gained 2 banknotes![/green] I know what you're thinking - even 2 banknotes isn't a big deal. It's better to get more Elements. Right?1money-counter-11941354-wrapper6770c71ebc4db00money-counter-11941354-wrapper 3
Nekonyancer[blue]But did you notice this attraction?[/blue] [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img67836fcc270b83.00103521.jpg[/img] It has a requirement of *7* banknotes! If we get it, we can get up to the 10th floor very quickly, which is a requirement for two other attractions!2player_name_119413546770c71ebc4db00
NekonyancerOkay, I think that will do! [blue]The game will continue as you've seen until...[/blue] - the last Common Attraction is built. OR - the last available Element is placed in the Dispenser 3000. The [red]*tiny white number*[/red] at the top of the Dispenser shows how many are left.3remaining-dab-counter6770c71ebc4db00remaining-dab-counter 1
NekonyancerWhen the game ends, some *balloon awards* are given out! You can see all the balloons if you click on the button in the bottom-left corner! [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img67836fcd416a00.79824859.jpg[/img]4player_name_119413546770c71ebc4db00
NekonyancerThe *green, blue,* and *yellow* balloons are awarded to the players with the largest cluster of connected Elements of the corresponding color. [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img67836fce3d90b3.24937998.jpg[/img]6player_name_119413546770c71ebc4db00
NekonyancerWe have a cluster of 3 connected blue Elements, so we're pretty far in the lead for the blue balloons. If we build more blue Elements on top of our Attraction, those will still count as connected.8attraction_456770c71ebc4db00
NekonyancerThe *Rainbow* balloons are awarded to the player with the most *satisfied customers.* [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img67836fcf4eea26.38383779.jpg[/img] Also, this tutorial was made from a *2-player* replay, so there's only one balloon of each type. If you play with more players, there are additional (but less valuable) balloons for runners up in each category!9player_name_119413546770c71ebc4db00
NekonyancerYou can easily keep track of each player's largest clusters, banknotes, and satisfied customers by checking the player info panels! [green]Looks like our opponent has a cluster of two yellows![/green]10biggest-green-zone-counter-11941354-wrapper6770c71ebc4db00
NekonyancerAfter all the balloons are awarded, BGA will count up each player's total score, which includes... *- Balloons* from Element clusters/satisfied customers. *- Docking bays.* *- Attractions.* Everything else, including extra banknotes and unsatisfied customers, is worth nothing. [green]Whoever has the most points wins![/green]11player_name_119413546770c71ebc4db00
Nekonyancer[blue]*Thank you for playing through this tutorial for Superstore 3000!*[/blue] If you have any questions or comments about the tutorial, feel free to send *Nekonyancer* a message! Big thank yous go out to... • *Rodrigo Rego* for designing this game. • *Space Cowboys* for publishing. • *Mizutismask* for bringing it to BGA. Have fun! :D12player_name_119413546770c71ebc4db00
