Nekonyancer[img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img67a9cc18e9aec6.32597875.jpg[/img] Mythicals, elemental creatures that feed on the magic of earth, air, fire and water, only reveal themselves in the moonlight. You only have until dawn to harness their power and tame the magic of the elements! [green][tip] This tutorial is best viewed on a computer![/green]1maintitlebar_content000
NekonyancerIn *Mythicals,* you and one opponent will take turns drawing Creature cards and using them to collect Mastery tiles. Each Mastery tile is worth points and allows you to increase or lock the value of another tile. When the deck runs out of cards, dawn arrives, and the game ends. [green]Whoever has the most points wins![/green]2maintitlebar_content000
NekonyancerIf you scroll down a little bit, you'll find our [red]*player board.*[/red] We'll keep all our cards there, sorted into four colors. Each player starts the game with 2 cards already on their board. In addition to a color, each card has a number from *1 to 5.* * indicates a Wild card - it can be any number from 1 to 5!3maintitlebar_content000myt_player_table-11941354 1
NekonyancerWe're the first player! [blue]On our turn, we must draw cards in one of two ways:[/blue] *1.* Draw 3 cards from the deck. Keep all cards of one color. Discard the rest. *2.* Draw all cards from a reserve.4maintitlebar_content000
NekonyancerWe'll start with the first way: draw 3 cards and keep all cards of 1 color. *Click on the deck or on [blue]"Draw 3 cards"[/blue] at the top!*5myt_cards_deck_container010customActions 2
NekonyancerHmm, we drew a blue 2, a blue 3, and a purple 2. Again, we can keep all the cards of a *single color,* so let's take the blues! *Click on one of the [blue]blue[/blue] cards!*1myt_card-667a2d2f30542510
Nekonyancer*Great!* We took the two blue cards, and BGA helpfully arranged them in numerical order for us.1myt_card-467a2d2f54d2d300
NekonyancerThe card we didn't take - the purple card - went into the purple *reserve.* As you can see, there are three other reserves - one for each color. [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img67a9cc1a476ec5.11980503.jpg[/img]2myt_card-2867a2d2f54d2d300
NekonyancerNow that we've drawn cards, we have the option of discarding cards to take a *Mastery tile.* Tiles of the four main colors require [blue]consecutively numbered cards of the matching color.[/blue]3myt_tile-1367a2d2f54d2d300
NekonyancerThe golden icons between the columns show how many cards are required to take each tile. [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img67a9cc1b530b65.14567177.jpg[/img] In this case, we could discard our Blue 2 and Blue 3 to take this Blue Mastery tile. We can't discard Blue 2 and Blue 5 because those numbers aren't *consecutive.*4myt_tile-1367a2d2f54d2d300
NekonyancerTiles in the gray column require cards of the [red]same number but different colors.[/red] [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img67a9cc1c791c36.21848262.jpg[/img] In this case, we could discard one of our blue cards along with the purple * to take this gray tile. * indicates a Wild card. It can be any number from 1 to 5.5myt_tile-1767a2d2f54d2d300
NekonyancerTaking a tile is certainly tempting, but I think we'll pass for now. You'll understand why soon! *Click on [blue]Pass![/blue]*6btnPassTileChoice67a2d2f54d2d310btnPassTileChoice 2
Nekonyancer[blue]Okay, that's it for our turn![/blue] Now our opponent will take their turn...1maintitlebar_content67a2d2ff9da7300
NekonyancerOur opponent drew 2 red cards and a purple card. They took the reds and discarded the purple one into the purple reserve. [green]Now it's our turn again![/green]1myt_card-2767a2d30d3c9d700
NekonyancerThere are two cards in the purple reserve now, so this is a good time to use the other draw option: [blue]draw all cards from a single reserve.[/blue] *Click on the cards in the purple reserve or click on the [red]Reserve[/red] button at the top!*2myt_card-2867a2d30d3c9d710btnCollectReserve_3 1
NekonyancerWe have three consecutive purple cards now (using the wild as a 3), allowing us to take a 4-point mastery tile... but again, I think we'll *pass.* Good things come to those who wait, and we don't have to worry about a maximum hand size. *Click on [blue]"Pass"[/blue] at the top.*1myt_tile-267a2d31e8236610btnPassTileChoice 2
NekonyancerThere's a purple 4 in the reserve! There's only one card there, but it's exactly the number we need! *Take the card!*1myt_card-3267a2d35c89cbe10btnCollectReserve_3 1
NekonyancerNow we have purple *1-2-wild-4,* allowing us to take this even more valuable *7-point* tile... but that's still not good enough for me.1myt_tile-367a2d37bc386000
NekonyancerLet's take this little blue tile instead. You'll understand soon. ;) *1.* Click on the [blue]*2-point blue tile.*[/blue] *2.* Click on the [blue]*blue 2*[/blue] on our board.2myt_tile-1367a2d37bc386010
NekonyancerWhenever you buy a Mastery tile, you can *reinforce* or *lock* another tile on the board! *Reinforcing* means placing one or two bonus tokens onto a tile, increasing its point value. *Locking* prevents players from reinforcing a tile, though it can still be bought.1maintitlebar_content67a2d3855e77600
NekonyancerWe can reinforce that 7-point purple tile to increase its value! Since our opponent doesn't have any purple cards at the moment, they have no chance of snatching the card before we do. *1.* Click on the *7-point* purple Mastery tile. *2.* Click on [blue]*"+2,"*[/blue] either at the top or on the tile itself.2myt_tile-367a2d3855e77610
Nekonyancer[green]Excellent! Now the tile is worth 9 points![/green] Unfortunately, we can't reinforce it further. +2 points is the maximum.1myt_tile-367a2d38dcaefe00
Nekonyancer[blue]Our opponent just made a mistake![/blue] They drew 3 cards from the deck and kept two green cards (1 and wild), but they overlooked the fact that they *already* had a green wild card. [red]Whenever a player has two duplicate cards on their board, they must give one of them to their opponent![/red]1maintitlebar_content67a2d3b08eab500
NekonyancerAfter giving us the green wild card, they bought a [red]red mastery tile[/red] and reinforced this [green]green one.[/green]2myt_tile-567a2d3b08eab500
NekonyancerThey took a big risk doing that! If we draw a green card of our own, we can snatch that reinforced tile before they do! *Draw 3 cards from the deck!*3myt_cards_deck_container67a2d3b08eab510btnDraw 2
NekonyancerHah, perfect! *Take the [green]green[/green] cards!*1myt_card-2267a2d3bbed10810
NekonyancerNow we can take the green tile they reinforced! It's safe to leave the purple reinforced tile on the board for a while longer. Our opponent still doesn't have any purple cards. *1.* Click on the [green]*reinforced green tile.*[/green] *2.* Click on the [green]*green 3*[/green] on our board.1myt_tile-567a2d3c00701710
NekonyancerExcellent! Now we can *reinforce* or *lock* another tile. Hmm, our opponent still has two green cards. If they find a green 3, they can buy the 4-point green tile. Let's lock it! *1.* Click on the *4-point* green tile. *2.* Click on theπŸ”’ or on *"LOCK"* at the top!1myt_tile-667a2d3cda3dd310
Nekonyancer[blue]Great! The tile was flipped over.[/blue] This will not stop our opponent from buying the tile, but at least they won't be able to reinforce it!1myt_tile-667a2d3e29573700
NekonyancerLet's play through one more turn. There are plenty of good drawing options here. [green]Which cards do you think we should draw?[/green]1maintitlebar_content67a2d3f82e40200
NekonyancerThere are two blues in the reserve, and we already have a blue on our board. I'd go with those! *Take the [blue]blue[/blue] cards!*2myt_card-367a2d3f82e40210btnCollectReserve_1 2
NekonyancerAt long last, *select the purple reinforced tile.* BGA is a little picky here, so be careful. *Click on the purple 2 on our board.*1myt_tile-367a2d4032ab1410
NekonyancerOkay, time to *reinforce* or *lock.* [green]What do you think we should do?[/green]1maintitlebar_content67a2d40b37c3b00
NekonyancerWe have *2-wild-5* in blue. If we find a blue 3 or a blue 4, we can take the 7-point blue tile. *Reinforce it by 2!*2myt_tile-1567a2d40b37c3b10
Nekonyancer[green]Okay, I think you've seen enough![/green] The game will continue until a player finds the *Day* card when drawing 3 from the deck. At the beginning of the game, BGA shuffled the Day card with eight normal cards and deposited those nine at the bottom of the deck.1myt_cards_deck_container67a2d41a0d86700
NekonyancerWhen the *Day* card is drawn, the active player must finish their turn as normal, though they may not take cards from a reserve. Then the game ends, and BGA counts up the points! [green]Whoever has the most points wins![/green]2maintitlebar_content67a2d41a0d86700
Nekonyancer[blue]*Thank you for playing through this tutorial for Mythicals: the Board Game!*[/blue] If you have any questions or comments about the tutorial, feel free to send *Nekonyancer* a message! Big thank yous go out to... • *Alexis Allard, Joan Dufour* for designing this game. • *Repos Production* for publishing. • *Jonathan2004* for bringing it to BGA. Have fun! :D3maintitlebar_content67a2d41a0d86700
