Scribal[img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ee058c4046.36606943.jpg[/img] Welcome to the Architects of Amytis, a short tile placement game for 2 players. In the Architects of Amytis, we'll be drafting tiles from a central board and then placing them on our personal board in a 3x3 grid. This tutorial will take about 10 minutes. [green][tip] We recommend you complete this tutorial on a large screened device.[/green]1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
ScribalThis is the central board and it has 9 stacks of 5 building tiles arranged in a 3x3 grid. Each turn, we will be placing one of our 4 *architects* on a stack to pick a tile. Each building type has an immediate scoring condition and we are trying to create patterns to match the *Project Cards* in our player area.3aoa-building-tile-7-back000
ScribalThis is our play area. Since we are the first player, we have started with 2 *Project Cards*. The second player starts with 3. In order to complete the goals, we will need to place buildings in these configurations. They can be rotated, but they can not be flipped.4aoa-project-card-6-front000
Scribal[green][tip] During a regular game, you will have arrows on the *Project Cards* that will let you rotate them, as you can see in this image. [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ee05af2322.06549237.jpg[/img] [/green]5archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
ScribalThese 6 tiles show how each building scores. At any time, you can mouse over these tiles or the stacks on the central board to see how the buildings score. We will not use each building during the tutorial. For a different challenge, during table creation, you can select the B side of these tiles, changing how each one behaves.6aoa-theater-side000aoa-garden-side 16 aoa-market-side 16 aoa-wall-side 16 aoa-palace-side 16 aoa-residence-side 16 aoa-theater-side 16
ScribalAs you can see from this center card, there are 4 different color buildings. There are 2 copies of each building in each color for a total of 48 tiles, but only 45 will be available each game.7aoa-project-card-8-front000
ScribalThe two *Project Cards* we started with are of medium complexity. They each have 4 required tiles and score 10 points.8aoa-project-card-6-front000
ScribalLet's start by placing our *architect* here to take the *pink garden*.9aoa-building-tile-1-back010
ScribalThe garden scores 1 point for each stack on our player board that is the same height as the spot we place it in. Looking at our goals, let's place it in the top row in the middle to start on the left *Project Card*. There's a bug here, so I'll place it for you. Don't worry. It will work in the game. Click Continue.1aoa-player-board-ffffff675feb4896e7f00
ScribalLet's place our architect here on this blue tile to take a wall.1aoa-building-tile-26-back675febc11d17f10
ScribalThe wall scores 2 points for every visible wall tile on the edge of our board. Looking at our left *Project Card*, where do you think we should place it?1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment675febef1529a00
ScribalThe middle row, on the left looks like a good place for this building. Due to the bug, I will need to place each tile. Click Continue.2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment675febef1529a00
ScribalClick the stack here on the bottom left to take the *orange garden*. That will place our third architect in a straight line which will give us a special action.1aoa-building-tile-27-back675fec69ed2ff10
ScribalI'll place this tile in the bottom row on the left, underneath the *blue wall*. That will start us on our second *Project Card*.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment675fec766fd7000
ScribalBecause we placed 3 architects in a straight line, we can now place a token on the King's Favor board. We will score extra points at the end of the game, based on where we place the token. [green][tip] The architects can be placed in a line vertically, horizontally, or diagonally to give us access to the King's Favor board.[/green]1aoa-favor-board675fec806303800
ScribalLet's place it in the [blue]3rd column[/blue]. We'll score 4 points at the end of the game for every stack on our player board that is exactly 3 tiles high. After clicking the circle in the 3rd column, click Confirm.2aoa-favor-board-help-3675fec806303810aoa-favor-board-help-3 7
ScribalOur architects came off the board at the start of the turn because we had placed 3 in a row on our previous turn. [green][tip] If you are unable to place 3 in a row, all of your architects will automatically come off the board at the beginning of the turn after you place the 4th architect.[/green]1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment675fecfa0343600
ScribalOur architect was blocking the palace. Aside from scoring, it has another ability. Now that it is available, let's take this tile.2aoa-building-tile-4-back675fecfa0343610
ScribalI'll place it in the top right corner. That will put us one step away from completing our first *Project Card*.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment675fed1c084ab00
ScribalAfter we place the Palace tile, we need to take a new *Project Card*. We can take one of the face up cards, or we can draw the top card of the deck. Given our current goals and the tiles we have already placed, which one do you think we should take?1aoa-project-card-11-front675fed24c0e5f00
ScribalI hope you said the one on the left. If you did, give yourself a nice pat on the back! We already have an orange building in the corner and when we place the blue building to complete our 1st *Project Card*, we'll have 2 of the 3 buildings placed for this easy *Project Card*. Click the left *Project Card* to take it. [green][tip] Remember, the orientation of the goal can be rotated.[/green]2aoa-project-card-2-front675fed24c0e5f10
ScribalWe are almost done with this tutorial. It looks like our opponent left the blue building for us so we can complete our first *Project Card*. It's a wall, though, so we won't score any additional points for this tile, just the one we already have on the outside edge of our board.1aoa-building-tile-6-back675fed473c38310
ScribalThis is the last tile I'll place for you. I'm going to place it in the center space to complete our first *Project Card*!1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment675fed4cacffc00
ScribalThe wall we placed scored us 2 points and the *Project Card* was placed face down to show it had been completed. It will be scored at the end of the game. Our opponent's architects were cleared from the board and there are 3 available green buildings for us to complete our second *Project Card* on our next turn since our opponent can only take 1 of them.1aoa-project-card-6-back675fed5168a0600
ScribalThe game continues like this until 2 building stacks have been emptied. I think I will end the tutorial here as you have all of the information you need in order to start your first game.2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment675fed5168a0600
Scribal[blue]Thank you for playing this tutorial for *the Architects of Amytis*.[/blue] If you have any questions or comments regarding this tutorial, please send a message to [blue]*Scribal*.[/blue]3archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment675fed5168a0600
