RarabelIn *The Shipwreck Arcana* players are fortune tellers trying to prevent terrible fates from befalling each other by making correct predictions. 1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
RarabelThis is an Hours card, that serves as a tracker of [green]*correct guesses*[/green] and [red]*doom*[/red]. The *goal of the game* is to cooperatively make 7 [green]*correct guesses*[/green] before your [red]*doom*[/red] reaches 7.2hours_card000
RarabelIn front of you there are *4 Arcana Cards* beside the special *Hours Card*. They are used by the active player to give clues about the fate in their hand. Now let's see an example.3card_id_1000card_id_1 2 card_id_6 2 card_id_17 2 card_id_5 2
RarabelEvery turn the active player draws tokens until they have 2 tokens in their hand and uses one to create a clue about the token that is left in their hand. In this example the player plays one of their fate tokens under *The Lord* Arcana card, from which we can deduce that the fate in their hand is *not* a *5*, a *6* or a *7*.1main_token_46605429d62d1800card_id_17 2 main_token_4 2
RarabelThe possible values of the fates are represented by the 7 tokens in the active player's area. As we know the answer cannot be a *5*,a *6* or a *7*, so let's start to flip them down. Please press on the 7. !!!This feature does not affect the gameplay. It's used to easily keep track of your deduction.2number_token_7_844975576605429d62ef110number_token_7_84497557 17
RarabelThe possible values of the fates are represented by the 7 tokens under the player's name. Let's flip 5, 6 and 7 as we know for sure that is not the answer. !!! Please click on the fate tokens in the indicated order.3archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6605429d62d1810number_token_5_84497557 19 number_token_6_84497557 18 number_token_7_84497557 17
RarabelLet's flip the 6.1number_token_6_84497557660542a97ace210number_token_6_84497557 17
RarabelAnd the 5. 1number_token_5_84497557660542aa5e7a810number_token_5_84497557 17
RarabelOur options right now are to [blue]*Guess Token*[/blue] or to [red]*Pass*[/red]. We have very little information on the other player's fate (it can be a 1,2,3 or 4) and if we guess wrongly, the *[red]Doom[/red] will advance one step*, so let's just click Pass for now.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment660542ab3eedd10pass_without_guess 16
RarabelNow it is your turn to be the active player. You drew a *3* and a *6*. Now let's give a clue to the other player.1hand_token_space660542c31a0a500
RarabelAs you can see *The Mirror* or *The Beast* are not available because your tokens have different values and have more than 1 difference between them.2card_id_6660542c31a0a500card_id_6 1 card_id_5 1
RarabelSo your choice is between *The Engine* and *The Lord*. Now let's talk about why would you choose one and not the other. There are 2 things to consider: 1. You want to give as much information as possible to the other player. 2. You need to watch out for the cards *Fading*.3card_id_1660542c31a0a500card_id_1 3 card_id_17 3
RarabelEach Arcana Card depicts its duration in the shape of moons in the lower part of the card. [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img67e6c777bf9857.01146310.jpg[/img] Each fate token contains the amount of time it consumes in the shape of pips. [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img67e6c778b76de8.25083495.jpg[/img] The card *fades* if at the end of the turn the sum of the pips on all the fates under the card are equal or greater than its duration. 4main_token_4660542c31a0a500card_id_17 2 main_token_4 2
RarabelAs we can see *The Lord* already contains 2 pips and would fade if we put any of our fate tokens there. If a card fades in a turn without a Successful Prediction, then the [red]*Doom*[/red] will advance *2 spaces*. 5main_token_4660542c31a0a500card_id_17 2 main_token_4 2
RarabelFading the card while not giving a good clue is not the best idea. So for now let's put our 6 under *The Engine* card by clicking on the *card*, then on the *token*, then on [blue]*Confirm Selection*[/blue].6card_token_space_0660542c31a0a510confirm_give_clue 19 main_token_18 18 card_id_1 17
RarabelAs you can see the other player deduced that our fate is either a *2* or a *3*, but decided not to risk and passed.1number_token_panel_915616616605430847a8200
RarabelNow it's our turn to make the prediction again. It's *important* to note that at the beginning of this turn the other player had one fate remaining from their previous turn and one new fate drawn from the bag. It was up to them whether to give the clue for the same fate again (generally a better option) or for the new fate.1main_token_96605433208b6900
RarabelLet's assume that the previous clues are still relevant. The only possible answer in that case is a *3*. So let's eliminate the other options. Click on the *4*. 2player_board_844975576605433208b6910number_token_4_84497557 16
RarabelNow click on the *2*.1number_token_2_844975576605433b8c79910number_token_2_84497557 16
RarabelAnd on the *1*.1number_token_1_844975576605433ce005110number_token_1_84497557 16
RarabelWith only one possible answer let's go ahead and press [blue]*Guess Token*[/blue]. And then select *3*. 2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6605433e03b8110guess_token 16
RarabelYay! The guess was correct. Finally we got our first [green]point[/green]. 1green_token660543442fadf00
RarabelAlso the *Arcana Card* that was used has *faded*. Every time an Arcana Card fades it gives us a one-time ability to use in the future. (Like now we can use this card to make 2 predictions instead of 1) Also all the fate tokens under it return to the bag. [tip] There are 3 tokens of each number in the bag, you can use this information to your advantage when making a Prediction.2card_id_5660543442fadf00
RarabelNow let's fast-forward in the game and show you how *The Hours* card works and how to use *one-time abilities*. We are almost done :)3archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment660543442fadf00
RarabelIf the fate tokens you have do not match with any of the conditions of the Arcana cards, you *must* play one of your fates under the special *The Hours* card. This is why the other player placed their fate here.1main_token_166605441b1d12700
RarabelSince we know that the tokens of the other player don't match with any of the Arcana cards, we can eliminate the *1* and the *2*, because they would match *The Shore*.2card_id_196605441b1d12700card_id_19 1
RarabelLet's flip the *1*.3number_token_1_844975576605441b1d12710number_token_1_84497557 17
RarabelAnd the *2*.2number_token_2_844975576605442487c0910number_token_2_84497557 17
RarabelNow we could deduce additional information from other Arcana cards, but for the sake of this tutorial let's use a one-time ability. Let's click on [blue]Use Power[/blue]. 1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment66054426a9d2c10use_power_card 16
RarabelNow click on the *1-4-7* card. This will confirm if the answer is *6* or *7*. 1card_id_8660544307214a10card_id_8 16
RarabelYou can see here that the answer is *YES*, so we know for sure the other player's fate is a *7*. Let's skip the prediction phase and see what happens after.1message_area6605443195ad200
RarabelIf the fate token is placed under *The Hours* - after the turn is over, the token will move to the first Arcana card (in this case *The Shore*) and the time of the token will be applied to it instead of *The Hours* card, which never fades. In this case *The Shore* has 4 time, and we only used 2 there, so it does not fade.1main_token_16660544396252d00hours_card 9 card_id_19 2 main_token_16 2
RarabelThe game will proceed like this until either: - You win by making 7 [green]*Correct Predictions*[/green]. - You lose if the [red]*Doom*[/red] tracker reaches 7 faster. *Remember*: the [red]*Doom*[/red] moves *1* for every incorrect prediction and *2* when an Arcana card fades and you didn't have a correct prediction in the same turn.2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment660544396252d00
Rarabel[blue]*Thank you for playing this tutorial for The Shipwreck Arcana!*[/blue] If you have questions, please drop a message to [red]Rarabel[/red]. And have fun playing the game :)3archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment660544396252d00
