leafsnackWelcome to the quick tutorial for *Railroad Ink*!

The game takes place over *7 rounds*. At the start of each round, four [green]railroad dice[/green] will be rolled, and then you must draw all four patterns somewhere on your board.

leafsnackRails can only connect to other Rails, and Highways can only connect to other Highways. Some dice, like the [blue]last one[/blue] here have *stations* that connect Rail to Highway, but otherwise the two cannot touch.
Whenever you draw a [green]die[/green] on your map, it must be connected to at least one existing route on the map of that type. This includes the orange arrows around the edge.2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment61f11d2aaef3f00die-3 7
leafsnackIt's now Round 2. Our choices from Round 1 have been locked in, and now we will place [green]another four dice[/green] on our map.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment61f11d2d53b9d00die-0 8 die-1 8 die-2 8 die-3 8
leafsnackIn addition to the 4 mandatory dice you have to play each round, you may also take a *Special Route*. Click one of the 6 junctions depicted along the top of your board to do X it out and place it on your map.

You may only draw *1* Special Route per round, and only [red]*3* over the course of the whole game.[/red]3dice61f11d5cb09c801dice 16
leafsnackNow that you know how to draw dice onto your map to form routes, we'll go over how this game is [blue]*scored*[/blue]. For demonstration, let's pretend that this is your final board.
[img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/https___i.imgur.com_3XRlPtR.png[/img]
You receive [green]+1vp[/green] for each square that your *longest Railroad* passes through. Here, our longest Railroad is 8 squares long, so we get *+8vp*.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment61f11dadefdba00
leafsnackWe also receive [green]+1vp[/green] for each square that our *longest Highway* passes through. Your route for this calculation must be able to be drawn with a single line, so this is worth *+3vp* for us.

leafsnackPoints from connecting *Exits* (the orange arrows around the edge of the map) will likely make up the majority of your score in Railroad Ink. Each [red]seperate[/red] group of [red]*connected* Exits[/red] is scored individually.
Here we have one group of 3 Exits, and one group of 2 Exits. So our score for this category is [blue]8 + 4 = *+12vp*.[/blue]

leafsnackYou [red]lose 1vp[/red] for each *"loose end"*, or end of a route that is left out in the open. Here, we get [red]*-7vp*[/red] for this category.

On the flipside, you get [green]+1vp[/green] for each square you have filled in among the [green]center 9 squares[/green] of the map. Here, we get *0vp*.

leafsnackThese five categories added together determines your score.
