Nekonyancer[img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed7dbe6597.53810392.jpg[/img] *Prague, Head of the Kingdom.* (Latin) Charles IV has been crowned King of Bohemia and ruler of the Holy Roman Empire! You are a wealthy citizen, organizing building projects to support Charles's reign! [green][tip] This tutorial is best viewed on a computer![/green]1maintitlebar_content000
NekonyancerOn our turn, we must take 1 of 6 different actions, weighted with a constantly shifting array of costs and benefits. Clever players will discover synergies between carefully timed actions and the rewards from constructing civic projects. [green]After 16 rounds, whoever has the most points wins the king's favor and the game![/green]2maintitlebar_content000
NekonyancerBefore we continue, I suggest you use the [red]*Zoom buttons*[/red] next to your Player Panel to zoom in until your screen looks like this: [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed7e40fd95.59145304.jpg[/img]3zoomminus000zoomplus 1 zoomminus 1
Nekonyancer[blue]I hope you zoomed in![/blue] :) The six actions you can choose from on your turn are: *- Manage mines.* *- Manage quarries.* *- Upgrade.* *- Construct Building.* *- Construct Wall.* *- Construct King's Road.* [green]We'll cover each one in detail as we progress through the tutorial.[/green]4maintitlebar_content000
NekonyancerUnfortunately, you can't simply "choose an action" on your turn! Instead, you need to take one of six [red]*Action Tiles*[/red] from the *Action Crane* in the top-right corner of the board. Each [red]*Action Tile*[/red] gives you *two choices* for your action.5maintitlebar_content000actionTile_6 6 actionTile_7 6 actionTile_8 6 actionTile_9 6 actionTile_10 6 actionTile_11 6
NekonyancerThe inner part of the crane is called the *Wheel.* It is split into many segments, each with a different bonus. When we take an Action Tile, we gain whatever bonus is shown on the corresponding Wheel segment. For example, if we take [red]*this Action Tile,*[/red] we'll gain a *silver window* as a bonus.6actionTile_6000actionTile_6 6
NekonyancerOther costs and benefits are determined by the *quadrant* the Action Tile is in. For instance, [red]*these tiles*[/red] are in the first quadrant, which has additional gold costs posted along the outside of the crane. Tiles in the [green]*second quadrant*[/green] have no special costs or benefits. Tiles in the [blue]*third quadrant*[/blue] come with victory points, but there aren't any tiles there at the moment.7maintitlebar_content000actionTile_6 6 actionTile_7 6 actionTile_8 8 actionTile_9 6 actionTile_10 8 actionTile_11 6
NekonyancerLet's start by taking [red]*this tile.*[/red] It will not cost us any gold because it's in the *2nd quadrant.* The corresponding Wheel segment will grant us *1 stone.* *Click on the [red]Action Tile![/red]*9actionTile_10010actionTile_10 6
NekonyancerAt the top, you can see the two different action choices offered by the tile. The first choice is the [green]*Manage Mines*[/green] action: produce gold or increase your level of gold production. The second choice is [red]*Upgrade an Action,*[/red] making that action stronger for the rest of the game.1btn_0_565cf2fde6c45a00btn_0_5 3 btn_0_3 1
NekonyancerThe third box at the top is the [blue]*1 stone*[/blue] from the wheel. In this game, turns are very flexible - most actions, bonuses, and effects can be triggered in [blue]any order we choose.[/blue] In other words, we can take this stone now, or wait until after our main action.2btn_165cf2fde6c45a00btn_1 2
NekonyancerLet's start by choosing the [red]*upgrade*[/red] action. *Click [red]here![/red]*3btn_0_365cf2fde6c45a10btn_0_3 1
NekonyancerNow that we've *chosen* the action, we'll need to click again to actually *start* the action. [green][tip] These extra steps might seem redundant, but they allow for that *flexibility* I mentioned![/green] This step doesn't work in Tutorial Mode though, so I'll click on it for you.1btn_action365cf2fea7e40100
Nekonyancer[blue]Okay, we started the Upgrade action![/blue] This action involves taking an [blue]*Upgrade Tile.*[/blue] There are four [blue]*Upgrade Tiles*[/blue] located just under the Action Crane. You might need to scroll down a little to see them. The middle of each tile features 1 action and an additional benefit that we'll get each time we trigger that action.1upgradeTile_1565cf300f969de00upgradeTile_4 7 upgradeTile_13 7 upgradeTile_14 7 upgradeTile_15 7
NekonyancerFor example, [red]*this tile*[/red] will give us 1 gold each time we take the *"Manage Quarries"* action. [blue]*This one*[/blue] will let us trade 1 gold for 2 stone each time we take the *"Construct a Building"* action.2upgradeTile_1465cf300f969de00upgradeTile_14 6 upgradeTile_15 7
Nekonyancer[red]*The one on the far right*[/red] is unfortunately off limits. It's marked with an *"S"* for *Special.* We can only take *Special* tiles if the Action Tile we chose was next to a Wheel segment with an S, like [blue]*these two.*[/blue]3actionTile_965cf300f969de00actionTile_7 7 actionTile_8 7 upgradeTile_4 6
NekonyancerLet's take [blue]*this one.*[/blue] It will let us trade 1 stone for 2 gold each time we take the *"Construct the King's Road"* action. *Click on the tile!* [blue]Huh? Where did it go?[/blue]4upgradeTile_1465cf300f969de00upgradeTile_13 7
NekonyancerIt went onto our *Action Board!* [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed7ddda350.88692999.jpg[/img] You'll probably need to *scroll down* to find it.5player_board_9214348765cf300f969de00
NekonyancerOur action board has a space for each of the six different actions we can take. Whenever we take an *Upgrade Tile,* it will cover the corresponding space. We can *rotate* the tile however we like. *Click on the tile to rotate it twice. It should look like this:* [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed7e065100.42258164.jpg[/img] *Then confirm your action!*6player_board_1194135465cf300f969de10
Nekonyancer*Great!* So why did we bother rotating the tile? To properly position the [red]*red corner bonus!* [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed7e256243.02333725.jpg[/img] [/red] Whenever two tiles are positioned so that corner bonuses touch, we'll can take a red token from the supply! [green]We'll see this in action later.[/green]1player_board_9214348765cf302015ef500
Nekonyancer[blue]There's one more thing to mention.[/blue] Every time we acquire an Upgrade Tile, we'll advance one space on our [red]*University Track.*[/red] The graduation hat on each tile is a reminder of this.[img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed7ea9a999.97775803.jpg[/img] This track can be found on the right side of our player board. You might have to scroll up a little bit to see it. [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed7ec81925.40238727.jpg[/img] At the end of the game, we'll score some extra points based on our progress here!2maintitlebar_content65cf302015ef500universityCube_92143487 1
NekonyancerWhile we're looking at our Player Board, let's go over [red]*Gold*[/red] and [blue]*Stone,*[/blue] the two most basic kinds of resources in the game. Our board has a *Resource Crane* for each of them.4stonewheel_9214348765cf302015ef500goldwheel_92143487 6 stonewheel_92143487 7
Nekonyancer*Click on the button at the top to gain a stone.* When you do, [green]watch your stone crane carefully![/green]5stonewheel_9214348765cf302015ef510btn_0 16
Nekonyancer[blue]Did you see?[/blue] The stone crane rotated *counter-clockwise!* The rotation of the crane is important because if we can get it to rotate all the way to [red]*6 stone*[/red] and [blue]*9 stone,*[/blue] we can knock out cubes, unlocking bonuses!1commonCube_9214348765cf302ebd98b00stoneCube_92143487 1 commonCube_92143487 2
NekonyancerThe [blue]*9-stone cube*[/blue] can actually be knocked out be either stone or gold. The gold crane rotates *clockwise* and has its own [red]*6-resource cube*[/red] to knock out.2commonCube_9214348765cf302ebd98b00goldCube_92143487 1 commonCube_92143487 2
NekonyancerBelow the cranes, you'll find two tracks - one for [red]*stone quarries*[/red] and one for [blue]*gold mines.*[/blue] The cubes on the tracks always start in the slots with *checkered flags.*3quarryCube_9214348765cf302ebd98b00quarryCube_92143487 1 mineCube_92143487 2
NekonyancerWhen we *produce* gold or stone, we gain everything shown to the *left* of the respective cube. [green]If we triggered gold mines, for instance, we would gain 3 gold.[/green] That's enough about resources for now. *Click on [red]"End Turn"[/red] at the top!*4quarryCube_9214348765cf302ebd98b10btnId_endTurn 16
Nekonyancer[blue]Three things happen at the end of a turn.[/blue] You should scroll up to the top of the screen so you can watch them. First, the *Action Crane* will rotate one space clockwise...1maintitlebar_content65cf3031a126f00
NekonyancerNext, any tiles that were taken from the board are *replaced.* [tip] If you like, you can actually have the tiles replaced *during* your turn. There's a button for that.2upgradeTile_1465cf3031a15b800
NekonyancerFinally, the *Action Tile* we used is put back onto the Action Crane at the *12:00* position!3actionTile_current65cf3031a1aeb00
NekonyancerAnd that's one complete turn! [blue]Now our opponent will take their turn...[/blue]4maintitlebar_content65cf3031a1d4300
Nekonyancer*Next turn!* Since we upgraded our *King's Road* action, let's learn about that next. *Select this [red]Action Tile![/red]*1actionTile_965cf3067c746410actionTile_9 6
NekonyancerIf you scroll down a little bit, you'll see the [red]*King's Road*[/red] running through the center of Prague. It is lined with many historical buildings and sights, including the famous *Charles Bridge.* [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed7e883b34.26514523.jpg[/img]1player_board_9214348765cf30711f6a200bridgePos1a 1 bridgePos1b 1 bridgePos2a 1 bridgePos2b 1 bridgePos3a 1 bridgePos3b 1
NekonyancerThe road is divided into three steps - *[red]one,[/red] [blue]two,[/blue] *and* [green]three.[/green]* Each step has two effects on it. Whenever we take the King's Road action, we'll advance to the next step on the road and trigger the effects there.2bridgePos1a65cf30711f6a200bridgePos1a 1 bridgePos1b 1 bridgePos2a 2 bridgePos2b 2 bridgePos3a 3 bridgePos3b 3
NekonyancerThe *4th and 5th steps* of the King's Road involve the construction of *Charles Bridge.* When we take the 4th step, we'll draw 3 tiles from [red]*this pile,*[/red] choose one of them, and place it on the bridge as a *plank.* We'll gain the bonuses depicted on the tile and on the section of the bridge we covered. The 5th step is the same, but with the stack of [green]*gold tiles.*[/green]3bridgeTile_bridge1Tiles65cf30711f6a200bridgeTile_bridge1Tiles 6 bridgeTile_bridge2Tiles 8
NekonyancerMany of the effects on the King's Road require [red]*an egg.*[/red] If we can't pay an egg, we'll forfeit the effect! [red]Why eggs?[/red] Well, according to legend, Charles IV ordered cartloads of eggs to be brought in during the bridge's construction and mixed with the bridge's mortar, supposedly strengthening it!4bridgePos2b65cf30711f6a200bridgePos1b 1 bridgePos2b 1 bridgePos3b 1 bridgeTile_bridge1Tiles 1 bridgeTile_bridge2Tiles 1
NekonyancerLuckily, the Wheel segment next to the Action Tile we selected allows us to trade 1 gold for an egg. *Click [blue]here[/blue] to trade!*5btn_165cf30711f6a210btn_1 2
NekonyancerWe're all set! *Select the [blue]"Construct the King's Road"[/blue] action!*1btn_0_265cf307f7645a10btn_0_2 2
NekonyancerWhen we selected the action, it triggered a *bonus* from the upgrade tile that we took last turn! As usual, we can choose the order in which we resolve effects. Let's start with the bonus. [green]Remember, it will let us trade 1 stone for 2 gold.[/green] *Click on the upgrade bonus button!*1btn_165cf3083d8c7510btn_1 1
Nekonyancer*Now start the real action!*1btn_action265cf30889607210
NekonyancerWe now have a [red]*pawn*[/red] on the first step of the King's Road! It will help us keep track of where we are on the road.1meeple165cf308c5cfaf00meeple1 1
NekonyancerNext, let's trigger the first step's effects. The first effect lets us pay 1 egg to move on either the *stone quarry track* or the *gold mine track.* *Click on the first button. Then click on the gold picture!*2btn_btn_065cf308c5cfaf10
Nekonyancer*Excellent!* The other King's Road effect lets us gain either 2 stone or 2 gold. *Take 2 stone!*1btn_btn_065cf30dc821c910
NekonyancerOkay, that's it for our King's Road action. *End our turn!*1btnId_endTurn65cf30e34da3d10
Nekonyancer[blue]Next, let's learn about constructing *walls.*[/blue] What luck! There's an action tile in the 3rd quadrant with the Construct Wall action. We'll get a point for free! *Take this [red]Action Tile![/red]*1actionTile_665cf31ae85d8d10actionTile_6 6
Nekonyancer*Click [blue]here[/blue] to choose the Construct Wall action!*1btn_0_465cf31b75b96910btn_0_4 2
NekonyancerConstructing a wall involves taking a *Wall Tile* from the supply and placing it along the *outside* of our Action Board. [red]*The supply of Wall Tiles*[/red] is located just under the Upgrade Tiles. *Scroll down until you can see them.*1maintitlebar_content65cf321fbd9b800wallTile_4 6 wallTile_16 6 wallTile_17 6 wallTile_18 6
NekonyancerEach tile has a [red]*cost*[/red] shown in red. Walls usually cost more stone than gold. Most of them grant an [green]*instant benefit,*[/green] shown in a green window. For example, [blue]*this tile*[/blue] [red]*costs*[/red] 3 stone and grants an additional [green]*gold mine*[/green] when built.2wallTile_1665cf321fbd9b800wallTile_16 7
NekonyancerThis seems like a good option for us. *Select [blue]this tile.[/blue] Then scroll down to our Action Board.*3wallTile_1665cf321fbd9b800wallTile_16 7
NekonyancerAs I mentioned before, Walls are placed along the outside of our *Action Board.* You should be able to see many transparent images right now, each showing a different valid placement. [blue]Where should we place it?[/blue]4player_board_9214348765cf321fbd9b800
NekonyancerWell, do you remember the [red]red corner bonus[/red] on our Upgrade Tile? The Wall Tile we selected has one too! If we position our tile so the red corners touch, we'll get a red token! *Place the tile and rotate it so that it matches this image:* [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed7ee569c8.16567070.jpg[/img] *Then confirm your placement!*5player_board_9214348765cf321fbd9b810
Nekonyancer*Excellent!* As you can see, we now have a red token in our inventory! [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed7f0f0cb4.02910705.jpg[/img] [green][tip] These tokens are worth victory points, though the amount varies![/green]1player_board_9214348765cf32441f13d00
NekonyancerIt looks like there's room for another red corner to be slotted in. It would have to be on a *"Manage Quarries"* Upgrade Tile. If we can make that happen, the new corner would touch *two* corners at the same time, giving us another *two* tokens!2wallTile_1665cf32441f13d00
NekonyancerBy the way, did you notice the gold coin on the side of our Wall Tile? It's an *adjacency bonus.* It's similar to red corner bonuses in that we need it to touch another adjacency bonus. [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed7f2fa8a3.46558730.jpg[/img] If that happens, we'll receive *both* bonuses.3overall_player_board_9214348765cf32441f13d00
NekonyancerNext, scroll up to our *Player Board* again. The cube on our [red]*Gold Mine track*[/red] moved onto a space with a *double pickaxe icon* over it. That means we can claim a *Production Token* and slot it into our gold mine track! *Click on the button on the top. Then continue to the next step.*4mineCube_9214348765cf32441f13d00btn_0 16 mineCube_92143487 1
NekonyancerAs you can see, there are eight different options. [green][tip] Some tokens are better than others, and the supply is limited! First come, first served![/green] *Take the far-right token, featuring a crown and a gold coin.*5choice_765cf32441f13d10
Nekonyancer[red]The token was added to our Gold Mine track![/red] Remember, when we *produce* gold, we gain everything shown to the *left* of our cube, including our new production token. If we produced gold right now, we would gain 3 victory points and 6 gold!1bonusTile_765cf3255c380500bonusTile_7 6
Nekonyancer[green]Many people misunderstand this mechanic, so I want to be perfectly clear.[/green] Do you see the *egg* on the 7th slot of the gold track? We will *NOT* gain an egg when our cube moves onto that slot! If we want an egg, we'll have to move the cube *PAST* that slot, and then produce gold. Okay, that's enough about that. [red]*End your turn!*[/red]2mineCube_9214348765cf3255c380510btnId_endTurn 16
NekonyancerOkay, it's our turn again! *Select [red]this tile![/red]*1actionTile_1065cf32d631d0510actionTile_10 6
NekonyancerThe corresponding wheel slot grants [red]*2 stone!*[/red] *Take the stone!*1btn_165cf32f0da87710btn_1 1
Nekonyancer*Click [red]here[/red] to choose the "Manage mines" action!*1btn_0_565cf32f738a8810btn_0_5 1
Nekonyancer[blue]Whenever you choose this action, you get a choice:[/blue] • Advance on the Mine track and gain 1 gold OR • Produce gold from all our mines.1btn_action565cf32f9b487500
NekonyancerIt might be tempting to advance further on the track, especially this early in the game, but if we produced now, we would gain 6 gold, bringing us up to *exactly 9.* One might call this a *golden opportunity,* but not for the reason you think! ;) *Scroll down to our Player Board. Start the action. Select "Produce Gold."* [blue]Watch our Gold crane carefully![/blue]2btn_action565cf32f9b487510
NekonyancerWe knocked out two cubes and gained the bonuses underneath! The one at 12:00 was covering a book, representing *Technology.*1goldwheel_9214348765cf33008b19b00
NekonyancerOur *Technology track* is on the right side of our board, next to the University Track. As you can see, the Tech bonus we acquired allowed us to advance one space. If you hover over our [red]*cube,*[/red] you'll see that there's an *icon* on that space! Whenever we reach an icon, we can [green]draw 3 Technology cards[/green] from the indicated stack and [green]keep one[/green] of them!2technologyCube_9214348765cf33008b19b00technologyCube_92143487 1
NekonyancerLet's see what we get! *Click here, then continue.*3btn_065cf33008b19b00
NekonyancerYou should be able to see three *Technology card* choices! You can hover over them to see precisely what they do. Since we have so much gold production already, *take the card on the far left.* It will help us get more stone!1player_board_9214348765cf3311cb1a710
Nekonyancer*Great!* The card is now in our inventory. The replay is a little buggy here - you can go ahead and *close the Technology window.* Next, I'll explain the bonus we unlocked by getting to 9 gold - *a golden window.* If we have a *golden* window and a *silver* window in our inventory, we can spend them to take any 1 of the 6 main actions, basically getting another turn!1technology_665cf332fe569600
NekonyancerThe graphic in the middle of our *Action Board* reminds us of this. [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed7f4f0803.27255826.jpg[/img] It also shows that we can spend 2 golden windows for the same effect, but you generally don't want to do that. [red]It's a huge waste![/red]2player_board_9214348765cf332fe569600
NekonyancerBy the way, you are limited to only *two windows* in your [red]*inventory,*[/red] regardless of color. If we gain additional windows during our turn that take us over that limit, we'll have to spend them or lose them!3player_board_9214348765cf332fe569600player_board_92143487 6
NekonyancerWe're not over the limit at the moment, but I think we'll spend them now to teach you how to [blue]Construct a Building.[/blue] *Scroll up or down until you see the supply of [blue]Building Tiles.[/blue]*4player_board_9214348765cf332fe569600buildingTile_4 7 buildingTile_16 7 buildingTile_17 7 buildingTile_18 7
Nekonyancer*Building* Tiles are similar to *Wall* Tiles in some ways - they have [red]costs[/red] in red and [green]benefits[/green] in green. However, they don't offer adjacency bonuses, and their corner bonuses are blue instead of red.5buildingTile_1865cf332fe569600
NekonyancerYou know, I'm not too thrilled about the building selection here. [blue]Let's replace two of them![/blue] This can be done by any player on their turn. It costs *1* resource (either gold or stone) to replace *2* tiles in the supply. *Click on [red]"Replace market tiles."[/red] Choose gold as your payment.*1buildingTile_1765cf33956d41010btn_refresh 1
Nekonyancer*Select these two buildings in the indicated order. Then confirm your choice!*1buildingTile_1765cf339fdbd6610buildingTile_17 17 buildingTile_18 18
Nekonyancer*Next, use our golden window/silver window combo to trigger another action.* *Select the button on the far right!* [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed7f6e8939.80980743.jpg[/img]1player_board_9214348765cf33a95743610btn_goldSilver 16
NekonyancerOkay, we've officially started the Building action! *Select the [blue]building tile on the far left.[/blue] Then continue to the next step.*1buildingTile_1665cf33c96353b00buildingTile_16 7
Nekonyancer[blue]Now we have to select a placement for the building.[/blue] Building Tiles are placed onto *brown* spaces on the game board. Note that there are many [blue]blue corner bonuses[/blue] scattered around the board. The building tile we selected has one too!2cityPos_10665cf33c96353b00
Nekonyancer*Place the building [red]here.[/red] Rotate it until it matches the picture.* [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed7f8a4a50.86070789.jpg[/img] *Confirm your action.* When it asks if you want to place a cube, *click "yes."*3cityPos_10765cf33c96353b10cityPos_107 11
Nekonyancer[green]Excellent![/green] We paid 4 gold and gained a silver window and a blue token. The cube we placed on the tile shows that we *own* it. We started the game with 2 cubes, and we unlocked 2 more on our *Gold Crane.*1buildingTile_1665cf34b0af7ea00
NekonyancerOwnership of tiles is important because of the adjacent *plaza.* When all of a plaza's adjacent building spaces are filled, whoever owns the most adjacent buildings can take both rewards shown on the tile - top and bottom! Other players with owned buildings can choose just one of the rewards. [green]We'll see this in action later![/green]2plaza_4165cf34b0af7ea00
Nekonyancer*Scroll back up to the supply of Building Tiles.* Note that not all buildings have a slot for a cube. Those buildings cannot be owned, and thus cannot make a player eligible for plaza rewards. However, these buildings instead have this icon: [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed7faa5746.99662238.jpg[/img]3buildingTile_1365cf34b0af7ea00
NekonyancerWhen constructed, these buildings will give the player *victory points* equal to the current number of buildings adjacent to the adjacent plaza, including itself. So, if someone placed such a tile *here* (scroll down to see arrow), they would earn [green]2 points.[/green]4buildingTile_1365cf34b0af7ea00cityPos_9 11
NekonyancerThe building tile we placed has one more important thing to go over. Do you see the red icon next to the cube slot? It represents the [red]*Cathedral of St. Vitus.*[/red] [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed7fcb9513.59439897.jpg[/img] Charles IV oversaw part of its construction!5buildingTile_1665cf34b0af7ea00
Nekonyancer[red]*The Cathedral*[/red] is represented by a *grid* at the top of the board. *Scroll up until you find it!* Each player has a cube in the bottom-left corner of the grid. Whenever we play a building with a [red]Cathedral icon,[/red] our cube will move one space to the right.6cathedralArea65cf34b0af7ea00cathedralArea 6
NekonyancerLet's try it! *Click [red]here[/red] to trigger the Cathedral movement!*7btn_065cf34b0af7ea10btn_0 1
Nekonyancer*Great!* Each horizontal movement increases the value of all our [red]*red tokens,*[/red] as this graphic shows: [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed7fed46b4.39295929.jpg[/img] Our tokens were worth 0 points before, but now they're worth [green]1 point each![/green]1actionTile_current65cf34b948a4800
NekonyancerTo move *vertically* on the grid, we'll need to use *two silver windows.* Additionally, moving from Level 2 to Level 3 and from Level 4 to Level 5 will require some gold and stone, as shown by this graphic: [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed80191f63.42971126.jpg[/img]2cathedralArea65cf34b948a4800
NekonyancerAt the end of the game, we'll score the points shown at the end of the row. [green]For example, if our cube was on the third row at the end of the game, we'd score 8 points.[/green]3cathedralArea65cf34b948a4800
NekonyancerIf we reach the top row, we can claim one of three [red]*final scoring tiles.*[/red] Each one has a different scoring condition. For example, [green]1 point per level on our Quarry track.[/green]4bridgeTile_cathedralTiles65cf34b948a4800bridgeTile_cathedralTiles 6
NekonyancerI'm sure you noticed that there are some [green]bonuses[/green] scattered around the grid. If our cube enters a space with a bonus, we'll get the bonus! *Arrow bonuses* indicate free movement. If we enter a space with an arrow, our cube will immediately move again. [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed8074e000.52212569.jpg[/img]5cathedralArea65cf34b948a4800
NekonyancerThe grid next to the cathedral represents the [blue]*Hunger Wall.*[/blue] [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed80371604.29827576.jpg[/img] During the Famine of 1361, many people were able to get food by working on the wall's construction. According to legend, Charles IV commissioned the wall specifically for that purpose!6pagemaintitletext65cf34b948a4800hungerWallArea 7
Nekonyancer[blue]*The Hunger Wall*[/blue] is very similar to the Cathedral. To move horizontally, we'll need to build Wall tiles with the Hunger Wall's icon. [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed805798d3.61823701.jpg[/img] Our horizontal position here will affect the scoring of [blue]blue tokens.[/blue]7hungerWallArea65cf34b948a4800hungerWallArea 7
NekonyancerOkay, that's everything about the Hunger Wall and Cathedral. *Scroll back down to the [blue]building[/blue] we constructed. Then [red]End our turn!*[/red]8btnId_endTurn65cf34b948a4810btnId_endTurn 1 cityPos_107 7
NekonyancerOur opponent constructed [red]*this building,*[/red] filling up this plaza's last available spot and triggering the plaza's rewards! Remember, whoever owns the most adjacent buildings gets *both* rewards - top and bottom. Other players with owned buildings can choose *one* of them.1buildingTile_1165cf354655ac300buildingTile_11 6
NekonyancerIf there's a tie for the most owned buildings, whoever spent the most *resources* on their buildings gets both rewards. If there's still a tie, all tied players get both rewards. We spent the most, so we took both rewards - *6 points and 1 gold.* Our opponent chose the top reward - *5 points.* All cubes were then returned to their owners so they can be reused on other buildings.2buildingTile_1165cf354655ac300
NekonyancerAlright, there's just one more thing I haven't mentioned - [red]*seals.*[/red] *Scroll up until you find them.*4sealPos565cf354655ac300sealPos1 6 sealPos2 6 sealPos3 6 sealPos4 6 sealPos5 6
NekonyancerThere are five seals on the board, and each can only be claimed by one player. To claim one, we'll need to advance to the last space on our Quarry or Mine track... [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed809c53e3.15389878.jpg[/img] ... and permanently place a *cube* on the seal we want.5sealPos565cf354655ac300
NekonyancerSome seals also require us to spend silver windows. [green][tip] You can hover over them for more information![/green]6sealPos365cf354655ac300
NekonyancerAbout halfway through the game, all the *tiles* (Upgrade, Wall, and Building) will be replaced with *Era 2 tiles.* There are some graphics on the board explaining how this works exactly, but you don't have to worry about it. BGA will take care of it. :)7roundMarker65cf354655ac300
NekonyancerWhen all players have taken 16 turns, the game ends, and we go to *final scoring!* [green]Each player's score is comprised of...[/green] • All the points they accumulated throughout the game. • *Unresolved plazas* - each player with an adjacent owned building receives the *bottom* plaza reward. • *Points from academics -* Points on university track multiplied by the highest Technology space reached. • *Hunger Wall and St. Vitus Cathedral -* points according to highest level reached.8maintitlebar_content65cf354655ac300
Nekonyancer• *Red and blue tokens -* points for each according to horizontal positions on Cathedral and Hunger Wall. • *Wall tiles -* 4/10/18 points for constructing 3/4/6 walls. • *Final-Scoring tiles -* Gained by reaching the last step of the King's Road or the top of the Cathedral. • *Leftover eggs -* 1/3/6/10 points for 1/2/3/4 eggs. [green]After all that, whoever has the most points wins![/green] [blue]Tiebreaker: Whoever went later in the turn order![/blue]9maintitlebar_content65cf354655ac300
Nekonyancer[blue]*Thank you for playing through this tutorial for Praga Caput Regni!*[/blue] If you have any questions or comments about the tutorial, feel free to send *Nekonyancer* a message! A big thank you goes out to *Seytonia* and *Ginso* for bringing this game to BGA! Have fun! :D10maintitlebar_content65cf354655ac300
