NekonyancerPlayers will explore Okanagan region of British Columbia, Canada, by drawing and placing tiles to form different territories. Each territory contains reward tokens that players will claim to score victory points. [green]After two rounds, whoever has the most points wins![/green]2maintitlebar_content

NekonyancerAt the beginning of the game, each player is dealt 5 [green]*objective cards.*[/green] Each card grants victory points for each complete set of reward tokens shown on the card.3playerHandWrap

NekonyancerHowever, we can only keep 3 of them; two will be discarded! Each reward token can score for multiple objective cards simultaneously, so we should keep cards that feature the *same rewards,* if possible. Hmm... [red]*these three*[/red] go pretty well together. NekonyancerOkay! In a normal game, those three objectives will be shown in your [red]*inventory,*[/red] but it doesn't work quite right in *Tutorial Mode.* ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ [blue]That's okay. NekonyancerThis is the *starting tile.* Each side of the tile features one of four different kinds of territory: *mountain, lake, plain, and forest.* It's probably a little big for your screen. You can *reposition* the screen by clicking, holding, and dragging. You can *zoom* in or out with ALT + Mouse wheel.2tile_1

NekonyancerAlternatively, you can reposition by clicking on the small arrows on each edge of the table. The buttons in the top-right corner let you zoom and fine-tune some other settings. [green]You'll probably need to reposition and resize as we go through the tutorial, so I suggest getting familiar with the size controls now.[/green]3tile_1

NekonyancerNow the game will start for real! [blue]Each turn has 4 steps:[/blue] *1.* Play a tile. *2.* Build a structure on the tile. *3.* Check for completed territories. *4.* Draw a new tile. Our opponent will go first.4maintitlebar_content

NekonyancerOkay, now it's our turn! [blue]*Step 1: Play a tile*[/blue]---We randomly drew this tile to start the game with. [green][tip] You can hover over the tile for a closer look![/green]1tile_61

Nekonyancer[blue]To play the tile, we must follow these 2 rules:[/blue] *1.* The tile must be *adjacent* to at least one existing tile. Corners don't count. *2.* Each side of the tile that touches an existing tile must be of the same territory type as that tile. In other words, lakes touch lakes, plains touch plains, etc.2tile_61

NekonyancerAll the [red]*red squares*[/red] on the table indicate possible placements for our tile. *Click here. Then continue.*3emptytile_-1_1

NekonyancerSince this space was adjacent to a lake, our tile was automatically *rotated* so the lake sides matched up! Clicking on the tile again will manually rotate it, but BGA won't let us *confirm* unless all the touching sides match. *Click on "Confirm" at the top!*4emptytile_0_1

NekonyancerGood! [blue]*Step 2: Place a building.*[/blue]---There are three different kinds of buildings: [red]*silos,[/red][blue] warehouses,[/blue][green] and farms.[/green]* Each player owns 4 of each type (for a total of 12 buildings), but we were randomly given only *6* of them to start with. We'll get the other 6 later.1token_building_warehouse__3

NekonyancerBuildings exert *influence* onto territories, which determine what kinds of rewards we can get from those territories later. [red]*Silos*[/red] (circular buildings) are always placed in the *middle* of a tile. They exert *1 influence* on every territory on the tile.2Silo_1

Nekonyancer[blue]*Warehouses*[/blue] (rectangular buildings) are placed between two territories on a tile, exerting *2 influence* on each.3tile_61

Nekonyancer[green]*Farms*[/green] (square buildings) are only placed on *1* territory, exerting *3* influence.4tile_61

Nekonyancer[blue]You got all that? Here's a recap:[/blue] *Silos:* Circles. 1 influence on each territory. *Warehouses:* Rectangles. 2 influence on 2 territories. *Farms:* Squares. 3 influence on 1 territory.5tile_61

NekonyancerRemember, we need to get lots of fish to score points, so we should put a lot of influence on the lake. *Click here to place a farm on the lake! Then confirm!*6Farm_3

Nekonyancer[blue]*Step 3: Check for completed territories*[/blue]---A territory is considered "complete" if it is completely surrounded by other territories. [blue]When we placed our tile, we completed this lake![/blue]1tile_1

NekonyancerWhenever a territory is completed, we must go through [blue]3 steps:[/blue] *3a:* Calculate influence in the territory. *3b:* Take a special action. *3c:* Collect rewards.2tile_60

Nekonyancer*3a. Calculate influence.*---We placed a [green]*farm*[/green] here, exerting *3* influence. Our opponent placed a [red]*silo*[/red] up here, exerting *1* influence on each of that tile's territories, including the lake. [blue]So, we have 3, our opponent has 1. Cool.[/blue]3tile_1

Nekonyancer*3b. Take a special action*---The player with the *least* influence - in this case, our opponent - can take a *special action.* Click [red]*here*[/red] to pull down a menu. Then continue.4buttontableelement

NekonyancerThis is the supply of [red]*territory tiles,*[/red] containing three stacks of facedown tiles and three singular faceup tiles. Each facedown tile has a special action printed on the back. When a player takes a special action, they must choose one of the 3 visible actions. [green][tip] You can hover over them for details![/green]5tile_54

NekonyancerOkay, our opponent took their special action. *3c. Collect rewards*---Each player can take a number of reward tokens from the territory equal to their influence, starting with whoever has the *most* influence. [blue]We have the most influence - 3 - so we can take 3 rewards![/blue]1tile_1

Nekonyancer*Select [blue]these three rewards.[/blue] Then click on "Confirm" at the top.* This step doesn't work in Tutorial Mode though, so just *continue* instead. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯2tile_1

Nekonyancer*Great!* Now it's our opponent's turn to take rewards equal to their influence, and - oh! Nevermind. [red]There aren't any rewards left for them![/red] >:)1tile_1

Nekonyancer[blue]*Step 4: Draw a new tile*[/blue]---We can take one tile from any of the three face-down stacks or one of the face-up tiles. If we take a face-up tile, the tile above it will flip over to replace it. *Select the bottom-center tile! Then click on [green]✓[/green]!*2tile_54

NekonyancerWe completed a forest! We have *1* influence from our silo. Our opponent has *0* influence. When a territory completes and only 1 player has influence in it, they can choose to either take rewards equal to their influence *OR* a special action.1tile_59

After six turns, everyone will run out of buildings, marking the end of *Round 1.* [blue]At that point, everyone will:[/blue] - Draw two new objectives. - Discard two objectives, leaving them with their final three. - Pick up their remaining six buildings. - Start Round 2!1maintitlebar_content
