Nekonyancer[img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785eced9d7978.87522119.jpg[/img] It's time for Captain Nemo to choose the first mate of the Nautilus. You'll need to face the depths of the sea while proving yourself in the five great domains close to the Captain's heart! [green][tip] This tutorial is best viewed on a computer![/green]1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
NekonyancerA game of *Nautilus* takes place over six rounds. Each round, players will place numbered [blue]*Diver cards*[/blue] on the board to vie for control of [red]*Domain cards.*[/red] At the end of the game, points from domain cards are counted up. [green]Whoever wins the most domains is the winner![/green]2domain_cards_on_table_item_22000domain_cards_on_table_item_23 1 domain_cards_on_table_item_10 1 domain_cards_on_table_item_14 1 domain_cards_on_table_item_6 1 domain_cards_on_table_item_22 1 diver_cards_in_hand_item_4 2 diver_cards_in_hand_item_6 2 diver_cards_in_hand_item_2 2 diver_cards_in_hand_item_12 2 diver_cards_in_hand_item_7 2
NekonyancerDomain cards have only two important bits of info - the *domain* and the *point value.* There is no difference between domains. They're just different categories. The point value is represented by *stars.*3domain_cards_on_table_item_10000
NekonyancerFor example, [red]*this card*[/red] is in the war domain and grants 2 points. [blue]*This one*[/blue] is in the Exploration domain and grants 1 point.4domain_cards_on_table_item_10000domain_cards_on_table_item_10 6 domain_cards_on_table_item_14 7
Nekonyancer[green]*This card*[/green] has no stars. Instead, it has a white splotch. It's worth *minus 1 point* in the war domain!5domain_cards_on_table_item_22000domain_cards_on_table_item_22 8
NekonyancerAt the beginning of each round, 1 player is dealt [blue]*two special cards.*[/blue] That player must keep one and give the other one to their opponent! [green][tip] You can see the abilities of the cards by hovering over them with your mouse![/green]6special_cards_in_hand_item_3000special_cards_in_hand_item_1 7 special_cards_in_hand_item_3 7
NekonyancerLet's give the Eye card away. *Select the Eye card. Then click on "Give the selected card" at the top!*7special_cards_in_hand_item_1010buttonGiveSpecialCard 18 special_cards_in_hand_item_3 17
NekonyancerOkay. Some special cards, including the Eye card, must be played *before* any other cards, so our opponent will play it now to peek at our hand.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment63b4deb31a85000
NekonyancerNow the game will really start! All we have to do is select a [blue]*Diver card*[/blue] from our hand and place it in one of [red]*these slots*[/red] on the board.1archiveCommentElementPointerTargetInner63b4decfbdb6b00diver_card_selection_0 6 diver_card_selection_1 6 diver_card_selection_2 6 diver_card_selection_3 6 diver_card_selection_4 6 diver_card_selection_5 6 diver_card_selection_6 6 diver_card_selection_7 6 diver_card_selection_8 6 diver_card_selection_9 6 diver_cards_in_hand_item_4 7 diver_cards_in_hand_item_6 7 diver_cards_in_hand_item_2 7 diver_cards_in_hand_item_12 7 diver_cards_in_hand_item_7 7
NekonyancerLet's try it! *Select the 11 card. Place it in the indicated position!*2diver_card_selection_263b4decfbdb6b10diver_card_selection_2 18 diver_cards_in_hand_item_6 17
NekonyancerGood! 11 is a fairly high number, and we played it on our side of the board. At the end of the round, if [blue]*this card*[/blue] is higher than [red]*the card on the opposite side of the board,*[/red] we'll win the domain card!1diver_card_selection_363b4def794e0000diver_card_on_table_pos_2_item_6 7 diver_card_selection_7 6
NekonyancerOur opponent played a [red]*1 card*[/red] here, on their side. That makes sense; [green]*that domain card*[/green] is worth -1 point. They're trying to make sure they *DON'T* win it!1domain_cards_on_table_item_2263b4deffea46300domain_cards_on_table_item_22 8 diver_card_on_table_pos_9_item_8 6
NekonyancerBy the way, the 1 card has [red]*red numbers*[/red] and a different picture, indicating that it works a little differently. It will lose to all other diver cards... *except* the highest card (14)! The 14 card, similarly, will beat everything *except* the 1 card!2diver_card_on_table_pos_9_item_863b4deffea46300diver_card_on_table_pos_9_item_8 6
NekonyancerRemember, our opponent got to peek at our hand of diver cards. They know we don't have the 14 card, so they felt safe playing the 1 here, guaranteeing that they wouldn't win the negative-value card. ... But they didn't get to see our [blue]*Special card!*[/blue] 😼3diver_card_on_table_pos_9_item_863b4deffea46300special_cards_in_hand_item_1 7
Nekonyancer*Select the special Fishbone card. Play it in the indicated position!*4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment63b4deffea46310diver_card_selection_4 18 special_cards_in_hand_item_1 17
NekonyancerGood! Since [blue]*the card on our side*[/blue] is lower than [red]*the card on the opponent's side,*[/red] they'll win that [green]*negative-value domain card!*[/green]1diver_cards_in_deck_item_463b4df063d17100domain_cards_on_table_item_22 8 diver_card_on_table_pos_9_item_8 6 special_card_on_table_pos_4_item_1 7
NekonyancerNext, our opponent played a [blue]*2*[/blue] on our side here, trying to make us lose this valuable [green]*2-point card!*[/green]1diver_card_on_table_pos_1_item_1363b4df28057af00domain_cards_on_table_item_10 8 diver_card_on_table_pos_1_item_13 7
NekonyancerBut don't worry! Some cards, when played, allow you to move previously played cards! [blue]*This is one such card!*[/blue] See the yellow arrow on it? It will move a card to the *opposite* side!2diver_cards_in_hand_item_263b4df28057af00diver_cards_in_hand_item_2 7
Nekonyancer*Select the 9 card. Play it in the indicated position!*3diver_cards_in_deck_item_463b4df28057af01diver_card_selection_0 18 diver_cards_in_hand_item_2 17
Nekonyancer*Play the 9 card here!*4pos_selection_363b4df28057af10pos_selection_3 18 diver_cards_in_hand_item_2 17
Nekonyancer*Now click on the 2 card to send it to the oppenent's side!*1diver_card_selection_163b4df34aea7810diver_card_selection_1 16
Nekonyancer*Excellent!* Looks like we'll be able to win [green]*this card...*[/green]1domain_cards_on_table_item_1063b4df365bbf700domain_cards_on_table_item_10 8
Nekonyancer... or not. They played [red]*a similar card,*[/red] kicking the [blue]*2*[/blue] right back to our side again!1diver_cards_in_deck_item_463b4df4cd2b1d00diver_card_on_table_pos_1_item_13 7 diver_card_selection_5 6
NekonyancerLooks like we can't win the fight for this particular card. Let's focus on other battles. *Select the 12 card. Play it in the indicated position.*2domain_cards_on_table_item_1063b4df4cd2b1d10diver_card_selection_0 18 diver_cards_in_hand_item_4 17
NekonyancerRemember, you can play cards on your opponent's side too. Right now, those are the only open slots anyway! *Select the 3 card. Play it in the indicated position.*1diver_card_selection_863b4df6eda04510diver_card_selection_8 18 diver_cards_in_hand_item_7 17
NekonyancerOkay, all ten slots have been filled, so *the round is over!* The game will now award [green]*the domain cards*[/green] to their winners...1diver_cards_in_deck_item_463b4df7f664f400domain_cards_on_table_item_23 8 domain_cards_on_table_item_10 8 domain_cards_on_table_item_14 8 domain_cards_on_table_item_6 8 domain_cards_on_table_item_22 8
Nekonyancer[green]Now we can see how each player is doing so far![/green] Looks like we're in the lead for the science and exploration domains, and we're tied in the war domain. *Click on the close button or the X button to dismiss the scoreboard. Then click on "Continue."*2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment63b4df7f6d6a800
NekonyancerBGA cleared away all the cards and dealt 5 new cards to each player, so we're ready for Round 2! [blue]This time, our opponent will draw two special cards and give one to us.[/blue]3diver_cards_in_deck_item_463b4df7f6d6a800
Nekonyancer*Okay, that's everything!* The game will continue as you've seen for another *5* rounds. At the end of the game, whoever has the most points in each domain will win that domain. [green]Whoever wins the most domains wins the game![/green]4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment63b4df7f6d6a800
Nekonyancer[blue]*Thank you for playing through this tutorial for Nautilus!*[/blue] If you have any questions or comments about the tutorial, feel free to send *Nekonyancer* a message! A big thank you goes out to *stst* for bringing this game to BGA! Have fun! :D5archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment63b4df7f6d6a800
