Dboned XrayWelcome to the crazy, spiralling, hypnotic world of [blue]*Hypnosia*[/blue]! In this game you spiral down into chaos until you reach the very centre in order to score points. [green][tip] This tutorial is mobile friendly in landscape mode.[/green]1pagemaintitletext000
Dboned XrayIf the sight of the game board does not make you dizzy, then this is definitely a game you should try. Jokes aside, this is a pretty fun and lightweight game that takes cross and circle games like Ludo to a new level.2pagemaintitletext000
Dboned Xray[blue]*Goal*[/blue] The goal of this game is to use your pawns to score the [blue]most points[/blue]. You gain points by [green]reaching the centre[/green] or by [red]capturing pawns[/red].3player_score_92883783000player_score_92883783 2
Dboned Xray[blue]*Points*[/blue] The points in the centre are assigned to players as they arrive. The owner of the first pawn to enter will get 5 points, the second 4 points, and so on.4tile_0_5000
Dboned Xray[blue]*Game End*[/blue] The game ends when there are [blue]five pawns in the centre[/blue], or if there are [red]no more pawns on the board[/red]. In the case of a tie, the arrival order into the centre will decide the ranking of tied players.5tile_0_5000
Dboned XrayEvery player starts with [blue]four pawns[/blue] of their colour. These pawns have a special starting position where they are safe from enemy capture.6token_ff0000_0000token_ff0000_0 2 token_ff0000_1 2 token_ff0000_2 2 token_ff0000_3 2
Dboned XrayEvery turn you will [blue]roll two dice[/blue], which you must then use to move your pawns. [green][tip] The first move for a pawn in the starting area must take it out of the starting area, otherwise you cannot make it.[/green]7dice2000dice1 2 dice2 2
Dboned XrayLet's try it out! [blue]Choose the marked pawn...[/blue]8token_ff0000_0010token_ff0000_0 2
Dboned Xray[blue]... and move it six spaces to get it on the board.[/blue] [green][tip] The game will highlight all possible destinations.[/green]1tile_5_2163004bca4204e10tile_5_21 2 dice2 2
Dboned Xray[blue]Choose another pawn...[/blue]1token_ff0000_163004bd132d2410token_ff0000_1 2
Dboned Xray[blue]... and this time move it four spaces.[/blue] [green][tip] Pawns move in a counter-clockwise direction around the board.[/green]1tile_5_1863004bd42aa4810tile_5_18 2 dice1 2
Dboned XrayNow let's watch our opponent take their turn.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment63004bd6046a800
Dboned XrayIt is possible to combine two pawns into a single stack. [blue]Select this pawn.[/blue]1token_ff0000_163004be56af8710token_ff0000_1 2
Dboned XrayMove the pawn three spaces, [blue]ending on the same space as your other pawn.[/blue]1tile_5_2163004bf1cc00b10tile_5_21 2 dice1 2
Dboned Xray[blue]*Double Pawns*[/blue] When you have a [blue]stack of two pawns[/blue] you get to [blue]move these two pawns as one[/blue]. There are also other benefits, like being protected from getting captured by other single pawns, but more on this topic later.1token_ff0000_163004bf37d50a00token_ff0000_1 2
Dboned Xray[green][tip] A stack cannot have more than two pawns.[/green] Let's skip ahead a bit.2token_ff0000_163004bf37d50a00token_ff0000_1 2
Dboned Xray[blue]*Bridges*[/blue] Notice all the black lines connecting the different levels to each other? Well, these are called bridges, and they are the only way to [blue]move from one level to the next[/blue]. [green][tip] You cannot move back out, only inwards. The bridge spaces are double coloured.[/green]1tile_5_2263004c0572c0e00
Dboned Xray[blue]Select this pawn...[/blue]2token_ff0000_263004c0572c0e10token_ff0000_2 2
Dboned Xray... and move it four spaces to get [blue]on the bridge location.[/blue] [green][tip] You can only cross a bridge if a previous move ended on a bridge location.[/green]1tile_5_2263004c0aa8ec810tile_5_22 2 dice1 2
Dboned Xray[blue]Select it again.[/blue]1token_ff0000_263004c0c756c610token_ff0000_2 2
Dboned Xray[blue]Cross the bridge to move onto the next level.[/blue]1tile_4_2563004c0f07a5b10tile_4_25 2
Dboned Xray[blue]*Bridges*[/blue] The same rule applies to the bridges into the centre. For this [blue]final bridge[/blue] you must [blue]roll exactly one[/blue] to cross it, because movement points cannot be wasted.1tile_1_1363004c126bf0000
Dboned Xray[blue]*Bridges*[/blue] What about a stack of double pawns and bridges? This depends on the [blue]game settings[/blue]. The current setting is "[red]No double pawn bridge crossing[/red]", meaning you will have to split the group up to cross the bridge.2token_ff0000_163004c126bf0000token_ff0000_1 2
Dboned XrayWe are pretty lucky right now! We can cross two bridges in one turn! [blue]Choose the marked pawn.[/blue]1token_ff0000_263004c1f88c8910token_ff0000_2 2
Dboned Xray[blue]Cross the bridge and move onto the next bridge location.[/blue]1tile_3_2663004c250677410tile_3_26 2 dice1 2
Dboned Xray[blue]Choose the same pawn.[/blue]1token_ff0000_263004c272bccb10
Dboned Xray[blue]Cross the next bridge.[/blue]1tile_2_2463004c2ae23b410tile_2_24 2 dice2 2
Dboned XrayLook! Our opponent wandered into our reach! Let's wait for the right opportunity to strike...1token_008000_063004c4b830a200token_008000_0 1
Dboned XrayNot yet... We need to roll a one...1dice263004c84aff8900
Dboned XrayEvery time you want to move a double pawn stack, the game will ask if you want to split the stack or move both pawns together. [blue]Choose the stack[/blue], then [blue]choose *II* or *Double* to move both pawns together.[/blue]1token_ff0000_163004cc5a37e810token_ff0000_1 2
Dboned Xray[blue]*Pawn Capture*[/blue] You capture a pawn when you [blue]end your movement on the same location[/blue] as an opponent's pawn. [red]Capture the pawn.[/red]1tile_5_2263004ccf9d72510tile_5_22 1 dice1 1
Dboned XrayCaptured pieces will show up in the [red]captured pawns[/red] area.1captured_pawns_92883783_item_163004cd0c91c700captured_pawns_92883783_item_1 1
Dboned XrayWe [green]gained a point[/green] for the capture.2player_score_9288378363004cd0c91c700player_score_92883783 3
Dboned XrayAnd our opponent [red]lost a point[/red].3player_score_8651502963004cd0c91c700player_score_86515029 1
Dboned XrayAlso notice that the total pawns of our opponent are reduced by one.4own_pawns_8651502963004cd0c91c700own_pawns_86515029 2
Dboned Xray[blue]*Single Pawn Captures*[/blue] A single pawn can capture another [green]single pawn[/green], but [red]not a stack of two pawns[/red].5token_ff0000_363004cd0c91c700token_ff0000_3 2
Dboned Xray[blue]*Double Pawn Captures*[/blue] A stack of two pawns can capture both [green]single pawns[/green] and another [green]stack of two pawns[/green].6token_ff0000_163004cd0c91c700token_ff0000_1 2
Dboned XrayFinally, let's demonstrate using a stack of two pawns to cross a bridge. [blue]Choose this stack[/blue] and then [blue]choose *II* or *Double*[/blue] to see what happens.7token_ff0000_163004cd0c91c710token_ff0000_1 2
Dboned XrayNotice that the game does not give you the option to cross the bridge. As I already mentioned, the current game settings do not allow for double pawns to cross a bridge.1tile_5_2763004cd9f32c600tile_5_27 2 dice2 2
Dboned Xray[blue]Choose *Cancel Selection*.[/blue]2cancel_button63004cd9f32c610
Dboned XrayLet's try again. [blue]Choose the stack of double pawns[/blue], but this time [blue]choose *I* or *Single* to split the stack[/blue].1token_ff0000_163004cdf5fd5c10token_ff0000_1 2
Dboned XrayNow we can [blue]cross the bridge[/blue] with one of the pawns.1tile_4_2463004ce261a6910tile_4_24 2 dice2 2
Dboned XrayThat is all you need to know to play your first game. Remember, [red]it is fun to capture pawns[/red], but all [green]the big points are in the centre[/green].1tile_0_563004ce43831900
Dboned Xray[blue]Thank you for playing through this tutorial of *Hypnosia*![/blue] If anything is unclear, feel free to contact [blue]Dboned Xray[/blue] with comments. Special thanks to [blue]Adam Novotny (A-dam)[/blue] for bringing us this game!2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment63004ce43831900
