Nekonyancer[img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed14f3a748.52160101.jpg[/img] Welcome to the most well-known geisha street in the old capital, *Hanamikoji.* Geisha, elegant masters of a variety of artistic performances, are greatly respected and adored. Can you outsmart your opponent and win the favor of the most geishas? [green][tip] This tutorial is best viewed on a computer![/green]1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
NekonyancerIn Hanamikoji, two players compete to earn the favor of seven geisha masters by collecting the *performance items* with which they excel. If you have more of a geisha's items than your opponent, you win that geisha's favor! [blue]If you win the favor of 4 geishas or gain at least 11 charm points, you win![/blue]2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
NekonyancerEach geisha has a color and a number in the corner. [blue]The number indicates two things:[/blue] 1. How many charm points the geisha's favor is worth. 2. How many corresponding item cards there are in the game.3geisha_3000
NekonyancerFor example, [red]*Chiharu*[/red] has a 3, so her favor is worth 3 Charm points. Her corresponding item is the *Shamisen,* so there are 3 Shamisen cards in the game. If you forget, you can hover over each of the geishas for specific info.4geisha_3000geisha_3 6
NekonyancerAt the beginning of each round, each player is dealt [red]*6 item cards.*[/red] On your turn, you must *draw a card* from the deck. We've already drawn a card, so we have 7 cards now.5myhand_item_19000myhand_item_5 6 myhand_item_6 6 myhand_item_8 6 myhand_item_11 6 myhand_item_13 6 myhand_item_19 6 myhand_item_21 6
NekonyancerAfter drawing, you must perform one of four possible actions, shown by [red]*these tiles.*[/red] You can only perform each action once. [red]The possible actions are:[/red] *1. Secret.* *2. Trade-off.* *3. Gift.* *4. Competition.* 6archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000action_wrap_11941354 6 action_wrap_92143487 6
NekonyancerLet's start with the [red]*gift*[/red] action! When you take this action, you reveal 3 cards from your hand. The opponent can then choose and score one of them. You will score the other two.7action_3_92143487000action_3_92143487 6
Nekonyancer*1.* Select the [blue]*Gift*[/blue] action. *2.* Select the [blue]umbrella (3),[/blue] [green]second teapot (4),[/green] and [red]first hairpin (5)[/red] in our hand. *3.* Click on *"Play selected"* at the top!8archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment010action_3_92143487 7 myhand_item_8 6 myhand_item_11 6 myhand_item_19 6
Nekonyancer*Great!* Now our opponent will choose one.1card_196448d82bb76d800card_11 6 card_19 6 card_8 6
NekonyancerThey chose the [green]*teapot,*[/green] placing it on their side of the tea geisha. We then placed the [blue]*other two cards*[/blue] on our side of their corresponding geisha.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6448d841075ca00card_11 2 card_19 3 card_8 2
NekonyancerThe tile for the action we chose (gift) is now gray, indicating that it can't be used again. [blue]That's the end of our turn! Now our opponent will go.[/blue]2action_3_921434876448d841075ca00action_3_92143487 13
NekonyancerThey decided to take the *gift* action as well! We can now choose one of the cards, knowing that our opponent will keep the other two. *Take the hairpin!*1card_126448d89343e1210card_12 16
NekonyancerIt's our turn again. Let's learn about the [red]*competition*[/red] action. When you take this action, you must make 2 groups of 2 cards. Your opponent can take one, and you can keep the other.1action_4_921434876448d89c55c8200action_4_92143487 6
NekonyancerLet's do it! *1.* Select the [red]*competition*[/red] action. *2.* Select the *Teapot* (4) and first *Hairpin* (5) for our first set. *3.* Select the *Scroll* (2) and *Shamisen* (3) for the second set. *4.* Click on "Play selected" at the top!2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6448d89c55c8210action_4_92143487 6
NekonyancerGood! Now our opponent will choose a set...1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6448d8f62600f00
NekonyancerNext, let's learn about the *Trade-off* action. It's simple. Choose and discard two cards in your hand. These cards will not be scored and will not be seen by our opponent.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6448d91df29bd00
NekonyancerGo ahead! *1.* Select [red]*Trade-off.*[/red] *2.* Select the two cards in our hand to discard. *3.* Click on "Play selected" at the top!2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6448d91df29bd10action_2_92143487 6
NekonyancerOkay, there's only one action left: [red]*Secret.*[/red] You simply select a card in your hand and keep it for later. It will be scored at the end of the round. [blue]Since we have no other options, BGA will go ahead and perform the action for us. Isn't that nice?[/blue]1action_1_921434876448d94e8fe7700action_1_92143487 6
NekonyancerOur opponent is now doing the *Competition* action, so we have to select one of their two sets, knowing that they'll keep the other one. *Select the Fan (2) and Umbrella (3). Then click on "Confirm" at the top!*1card_46448d9835a5d810waiting_2_wrap 16
NekonyancerAlright, both players have taken their four actions, so it's time to score the round! [blue]First, the players' reserved cards will be revealed...[/blue]1gameaction_status_wrap6448d9a019d8100
NekonyancerAnd now whoever has more of each geisha's item will win their favor, represented by the token on each geisha.2geisha_06448d9a01a74f00geisha_favor_0 6 geisha_favor_1 6 geisha_favor_2 6 geisha_favor_3 6 geisha_favor_4 6 geisha_favor_5 6 geisha_favor_6 6
NekonyancerUnfortunately, we each have 2 *hairpins,* so neither of us can win [red]*Ruri's*[/red] favor.3archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6448d9a01aba100geisha_6 6
NekonyancerThe results are in! We each won the favor of *3 geishas.* Our 3 were worth [red]*7 charm points,*[/red] and our opponent's were worth [blue]*9.*[/blue]4maintitlebar_content6448d9a01b9a000player_board_92143487 6 player_board_11941354 7
NekonyancerSince neither of us managed to win over four geisha or reach 11 charm points, neither of us won, necessitating *another round.*5maintitlebar_content6448d9a01b9a000
NekonyancerEverything was reset *except* the geishas' tokens, which are still aligned with whoever won their favor last round. At the end of this round, if no one manages to win a geisha's favor, that geisha's token will stay where it is.6geisha_26448d9a01b9a000
NekonyancerTherefore, we merely need to *tie* our opponent to keep the favor of [red]*these three geishas,*[/red] but we should try and *beat them* for [blue]*the other four!*[/blue]7geisha_36448d9a01b9a000geisha_favor_0 2 geisha_favor_1 1 geisha_favor_2 1 geisha_favor_3 2 geisha_favor_4 1 geisha_favor_5 2 geisha_favor_6 2
NekonyancerIf the game gets a little stale, you should try adding some action tiles from the *Avoid Misfortune* mini-expansion, replacing the four actions we went through in this tutorial! [green]All the new tiles are clearly explained in the lobby options.[/green]8maintitlebar_content6448d9a01b9a000
Nekonyancer[blue]*Thank you for playing through this tutorial for Hanamikoji!*[/blue] If you have any questions or comments about the tutorial, feel free to send *Nekonyancer* a message! A big thank you goes out to *ufm* for bringing this game to BGA. Have fun! :D9maintitlebar_content6448d9a01b9a000
