JagzeWelcome to Golf! The game where you try to shoot the ball into the ho... Wait, not that ball game! This is the card game! I'm sure the game picture confused you... [green][tip] This tutorial is best viewed on a computer! [/green]1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
JagzeThe goal of the game is to have the *[green] lowest [/green] points!* (Just like in real ball game). We will play through the default option, which is 6 cards variant. Each player is dealt 6 cards, arranged in 2 rows and 3 columns.2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
JagzeWe start off by flipping any two cards. But for now, select your *lower left card* and *upper right ones*, then click *[blue]"Flip selected".[/blue]*1card_inner_1_2_89410984646adaa2c49fd10
JagzeYou will see how scoring works *[blue]here[/blue]*. *The lower the score, the better!* Numbered cards worth what is indicated on the card, except on 2s, which scores negative 2, which is VERY good! Jacks and Queens are worth 10, while the King is worth 0! You will also see your board *[green] here [/green]*. Currently, the *visible score* is 4. (King is 0, your 4 of clubs is worth 4 points). 1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment646adaa88a14400playertable_89410984 8 score_chart 7
JagzeWhen *block scoring* option is on, forming 2x2 square (or matrix) of same numbered cards [blue]*subtracts your score by 20*[/blue] ! Remember, the lower the score, the better! I will explain the column or row scoring later in the game.2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment646adaa88a14400
Jagze*[red]Now it's your turn![/red]* On your turn, you may: 1. *Take* the card on discard pile and *replace* any card on your board, or 2. *Draw* a card in deck and then either *replace* a card, *or discard* drawn card.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment646adaafa4ed500
JagzeLet's take an action! We don't want that 7. *Draw* a card from the deck!2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment646adaafa4ed510deck_counter 6
JagzeOops, an 8. We don't want high cards as it hurt us. Discard it!1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment646adab2d925c10discard_space 16
Jagze6 is kind of high, but our opponent has two more non-visible cards! If they finish theirs (meaning all cards are visible in their tableau), we will only have one more turn left, and all other face down cards are also scored! We will place the 6 here and hope for the best.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment646adabcd2bb500
JagzeNice! A 2! Twos are basically best, since it lowers our score. A 2 *subtracts two* instead of adding! *[green]Place it above our King![/green]*1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment646adac80b52e10
JagzeAnother 6? That's high number! That would be ridiculous to take 6 now right? Nah, trust me. [red]*Place that 6 on last faced down card!*[/red]1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment646adadb7a0cf10
JagzeYou saw our visible score is 2. Wait, what? Why is it 2? Isn't it 6 + 6 + 4 - 2 = 14? Well, there is a special case where if you manage to put *same number* in a *row or column*, their score cancel out. So in this case, both would score 0. This is the usual way to lower your score. Line scoring option/variant can be set to "Columns only", or even turned off before starting the game.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment646adadd9b50300
JagzeSo that's the game! Before we end the tutorial, I will explain some variants and options: *4 cards variant* Each player plays with 2x2 grid. Unlike 6 card and 9 card option, players peek at their two cards instead of revealing at the start of each round. Any player can choose to close the round, in which other players have one more turn. 1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment646adae20b85800
Jagze*9 cards variant* Each player has 3x3 grid of cards. Players reveal three cards, and forming ANY line of 3 same numbered cards cancel the score.2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment646adae20b85800
JagzeCard power option: Choose whether to play with card powers or disable it. *Only the cards drawn from the deck can use its power by discarding it.* Card power J - Lets you peek 1 of your card Q - lets you peek 1 of an opponent's card K - lets you swap any 2 cards3archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment646adae20b85800
JagzeAnd that would be all! I hope you enjoyed the tutorial! I know it's not perfect but I tried my best! Special thanks is given to *ufm* who developed this amazing game on BGA!4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment646adae20b85800
