Nekonyancer[img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ecb5d91c33.03894390.jpg[/img] *Burgle Bros* is a cooperative game for 1-4 players. You and your "bros" are an elite crew that pulls off impossible heists. [red]Get in, get out, and don't get caught![/red] [green][tip] This tutorial is best viewed on a computer![/green]1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
NekonyancerYour *objective* is to [green]crack the safe[/green] on each floor of the building and then escape through the roof! But if any player gets caught by the guards *four* times, [red]you all lose![/red]2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
NekonyancerThe first thing we have to do is *choose a character.* We're playing with easy characters, but you can enable advanced characters in the lobby options! You can also randomly assign characters to players! [blue]We're going to play as The Hawk.[/blue] *Click here to select her!*3myhand_item_4010myhand_item_4 16
NekonyancerNext, take a look at the board. There are sixteen tiles, each representing a different room in a top-security building. [blue]*These thick brown lines represent walls between rooms.*[/blue] And [red]*this token near the bottom*[/red] represents a security guard!1floor2_path_preview62d712a0da83a00guard_token_105 1 wall_2 2 wall_3 2 wall_4 2 wall_5 2 wall_6 2 wall_7 2 wall_8 2
NekonyancerSince we're such amazing thieves, we're going to enter the building far away from the guard. *Click here to enter the building!*2tile_162d712a0da83a10tile_1 16
Nekonyancer*Okay!* The tile turned out to be a [blue]*Camera*[/blue] tile. If the guard passes through another *face-up* Camera tile, he'll see us! But since all the other tiles are still face-down, we're safe for now. We put this *[red]"Downstairs"[/red]* token on the tile to mark it as our starting position. I guess we dug a tunnel into this building and popped up here!1tile_162d712a74726b00generic_token_42 1 tile_1 2
NekonyancerNow we're ready to really start the game! Each player gets *four* actions on their turn. [blue]These actions can be used to:[/blue] *- Move.* *- Peek at an adjacent tile.* *- Hack a computer.* *- Open a safe.*2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment62d712a74726b00
NekonyancerLet's start with *peeking.* Peeking lets you flip over an adjacent tile, so you can see what kind of room it is! [red]You cannot peek diagonally or through walls.[/red]3archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment62d712a74726b00
NekonyancerLet's try it! *Click on "Peek" at the top! Then click on this tile!*4tile_462d712a74726b10tile_4 16
NekonyancerHm, it's a [blue]*computer room!*[/blue] Each action that a player spends hacking here yields a *hack token.* These tokens can then be used to bypass alarms of the type shown (fingerprint)! I don't know if we'll need this though, so we'll leave it alone for now.1tile_462d712b17ee0100tile_4 2
Nekonyancer*Let's peek into this room next!*2tile_2162d712b17ee0110
NekonyancerWow, we found the safe already! [green]We're very lucky![/green] There is only one safe tile on each floor, and we'll need the loot inside if we want to win! I'll explain more about this tile later. For now, let's move there! *Click on "Move" at the top. Then click on this tile!*1tile_2162d712b9e901510tile_21 16
NekonyancerWe have one more action. *Peek into this room!*1tile_3062d712be7440910
Nekonyancer*[red]It's a thermo alarm![/red]* It says, "If actions end here, trigger alarm." We could have used our last action by blindly walking into it. If we had, we would have triggered the alarm! [green]Good thing we were cautious![/green]1tile_3062d712c3d0c5000
NekonyancerWe're out of actions, but we haven't used [blue]*our character's special ability*[/blue] yet! The Hawk can peek through a wall once per turn without using an action! *Click on "Hawk: X-Ray" at the top.*2tile_2762d712c3d0c5010myhand_item_4 2 tile_27 16
Nekonyancer*Now click on this tile to peek through the wall!*1tile_2762d712c5b8c2c10tile_27 16
NekonyancerWow, we found the *[blue]stairs*[/blue]! We'll need to go here after we crack the safe to reach the second floor. We used all our actions, so *click on "end turn" at the top!*1tile_2762d712c645b3e10tile_27 2
NekonyancerOkay. Now it's time to *move the guard.* He will move after every player's turn! *[red]This card[/red]* shows the guard's destination. The card below it shows the path the guard will take to get there!1patrol1_item_6962d712c82fba400patrol1_item_69 1
Nekonyancer[red]*This orange tile*[/red] also shows the guard's destination, as well as the guard's *speed.* Guards always have a starting speed equal to their floor plus one. [green]We're on the first floor, so this guard has a speed of two![/green]2patrol_token_1262d712c82fba400patrol_token_12 1
NekonyancerWhenever you and the guard are in the same room, you have to hide from him by using a [blue]*stealth token.*[/blue] Each player starts with three. If you get caught without one, *everyone loses!*3generic_token_662d712c82fba400player_92143487_tokens 2
Nekonyancer*Okay!* Now it's our partner's turn! He's playing as The Acrobat. If you scroll down, you'll see his [blue]*player card!*[/blue] You can hover over it with your mouse to read his *special ability!*4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment62d712c83d4d700player_hand_11941354_item_3 2
Nekonyancer[red]*Yikes! He just ran through some new rooms without looking!*[/red] Luckily, he didn't trip any alarms!1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment62d712d82320400
NekonyancerHe uncovered a *[blue]lavatory.*[/blue] Lavatories are convenient places to hide! If the guard catches a thief here, they can remove a stealth token from this lavatory instead of their personal supply!2tile_1862d712d82320400tile_18 2
NekonyancerThe guard reached [blue]*his destination!*[/blue] Whenever this happens, [red]*a new destination*[/red] is drawn. If the guard still has extra movement upon reaching his destination, he continues moving toward his next one. 1tile_462d712df53c6f00tile_4 2 patrol1_item_65 1
NekonyancerIf you hover over [red]*this tile*[/red] with your mouse, it will show you all the destinations that have been drawn before! [green][tip] The guard cannot have the same destination twice, so you can predict his next destination to some extent![/green]2patrol1_item_6562d712df53c6f00patrol1_item_65 1
Nekonyancer[green]*The number in the corner*[/green] shows that there are 7 cards left in the stack. When the stack is exhausted, a new stack of guard destinations is produced, and the guard *permanently increases his speed by one!* So don't dawdle!3patrol1_item_6562d712df53c6f00patrol_counter1 3
NekonyancerThe guard's next destination is the safe room, which is where we are! We can take cover in the nearby lavatory, but we can make some progress on the safe first.4tile_2162d712df53c6f00patrol_token_12 2
Nekonyancer[blue]There are two different safe-cracking actions:[/blue] *- Add a die* (takes 2 actions). *- Roll the dice on the safe.*5tile_2162d712df53c6f00
NekonyancerWhen you roll the dice, tokens are placed on all the face-up rooms in the safe's row and column that have numbers in the bottom-right corners matching the dice we rolled. For example, if we rolled *4* and *5,* we'd put tokens on *Stairs* and the *Computer Room* - they have 4s in the corner.6tile_2162d712df53c6f00
NekonyancerWhen there's a token on every tile in the safe's row and column, the safe is opened! Our partner is working on flipping [red]*the last two tiles in the safe's column.*[/red] While we wait for him, we can add dice to the safe! *Click on "Add Safe Die" at the top!*7tile_2162d712df53c6f10tile_5 1 tile_15 1
NekonyancerGreat! There is now 1 die on this tile, so if we click on "Roll Safe Dice," we would roll 1 die. [red]Now let's get out of here! The guard is coming![/red]1crack_token_8362d71300b657a00crack_token_83 2
Nekonyancer*Move down to the Thermo room!*2tile_3062d71300b657a10
Nekonyancer*And now into the lavatory!*1tile_1862d71302090f310
NekonyancerWe're out of actions now. Oh! Almost forgot about The Hawk's special ability! *Click on Hawk: X-Ray at the top!*1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment62d71302f2a4510
Nekonyancer*Click here to peek through the wall!*1tile_962d713056a4d010tile_9 16
NekonyancerA [red]*fingerprint*[/red] alarm room! This is the worst kind! The only ways to get in safely are to hack a computer room or use a special item.1tile_962d713064325200tile_9 6
Nekonyancer*Now end your turn!*2button_pass62d713064325210
NekonyancerUh-oh. The guard passed through [blue]*the Camera room*[/blue] and saw our partner because he's in the other Camera room! [green]*This triggered an alarm!*[/green] Whenever an alarm is triggered, the guard immediately changes his destination to that room! His *speed* is increased by 1 for each active alarm!1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment62d71307c519b00tile_1 7 generic_token_3 3
NekonyancerOur partner quickly vacated the room with the alarm and discovered a [blue]*laboratory!*[/blue] If you scroll down, you'll see that he picked up a [green]*crowbar!*[/green] That will definitely be useful later!1player_hand_11941354_item_1262d713270b8f900tile_15 7 player_hand_11941354_item_12 8
Nekonyancer*Okay!* The guard passed by, but the lavatory helped us hide. He reached the alarm, and didn't find any thieves. He probably thinks he saw a ghost or something. He turned off the alarm, and his speed returned to *2.* Hmm... [blue]Do you think it's safe to go back to the safe now?[/blue]1tile_1862d7132d3ddd300
NekonyancerIf you hover over [blue]*this tile,*[/blue] you'll see that he has already had the safe and the computer room as destinations. He can't go there again until the stack of destinations is remade. We might get screwed if he decides to go to the [red]*camera room,*[/red] but the odds of that are low!2patrol1_item_7762d7132d3ddd300tile_1 6 patrol1_item_77 7
Nekonyancer*Let's move to the thermo room...*3tile_3062d7132d3ddd310tile_30 16
Nekonyancer... *and back up to the safe!*1tile_2162d7134640f9c10tile_21 16
Nekonyancer*Now add another die to the safe!* Remember, it takes two actions to add a die.1button_add_safe_die62d713470fba910
Nekonyancer*Finally, end your turn.*1button_pass62d713495e72b10
NekonyancerOur partner wants to come help us with the safe, but the guard is in the way! Luckily, his *special ability* is perfect for situations like this! Scroll down and hover over his card if you want to read about it.1tile_562d7134b808b100
NekonyancerOur partner made it up to the safe and rolled the dice! He rolled *2* and *5,* so tokens were put on [blue]*Camera, Thermo, and Computer Room*[/blue] (they have a 2 or 5 in the bottom-right corner). All we need now is 4 and 3, and the safe will be opened!1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment62d7136ad6af200tile_1 2 tile_30 2 tile_5 2
NekonyancerI think 2 dice isn't quite enough. *Add one more!*1button_add_safe_die62d71374ede7610
Nekonyancer*Now roll the 3 safe dice!* Remember, it costs 2 actions to add a die, but rolling the dice only costs 1!1button_roll_safe_dice62d71380d119010
NekonyancerWe got 3, 5, and 6. We just need 4! *Roll the dice again!*1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment62d713830bec010
Nekonyancer*[green]We did it![/green]* We cracked the safe and got the sweet, sweet loot. [blue]*This smoke bomb*[/blue] is a valuable tool. It's like a free lavatory, wherever we are! [red]*The isotope*[/red] is the real prize though. We can't use it for anything, and holding it will make our life harder, but we need it to win the game!1myhand_item_2062d71385a046500myhand_item_23 6 myhand_item_20 7
NekonyancerDid you notice that there's a trade button at the top of the screen? That's because we're holding items, and we're in the *same space* as our partner. [green]It does not cost any actions to transfer items from one player to another![/green]2myhand_item_2062d71385a046500
NekonyancerWe got the loot from this floor, so now we have to head for the stairs! Our partner is on his way there now...1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment62d713afe382300
NekonyancerOof, the stairs are blocked by a [blue]*keypad room!*[/blue] To get through, you have to spend an action to roll a die. Only a 6 gets you in! Each time you roll though, you add an additional die.1tile_1362d713bcce55d00tile_13 7
NekonyancerThe [red]*thermo room*[/red] next to it makes it even harder! We'll need to spend a lot of actions in the thermo room trying to unlock the keypad, but we'll trigger an alarm if we end our turn here!2tile_3062d713bcce55d00tile_30 6
NekonyancerOur partner wisely decided to use his *crowbar,* disabling the keypad room! This is indicated by the [blue]*hammer/wrench token.*[/blue] Now we can just waltz through!1tile_1362d713cbeda5d00generic_token_69 2
NekonyancerUhoh, the guard is coming. But we can make it up the stairs before he arrives! *Move to the thermo room.*1tile_3062d713d26b3be10tile_30 16
NekonyancerOops, I forgot! *[blue]The isotope*[/blue] we're holding tripped the thermo alarm! But that's fine, we can still get to the stairs with no problem.1tile_3062d713dc3217100myhand_item_23 7
Nekonyancer*Move to the keypad room.* It's still disabled! :)2tile_1362d713dc3217110
Nekonyancer*And now the stairs!*1tile_2762d713e5c72ee10
NekonyancerNext, I'll teach you about the second floor. *Find this card on the board and click on it!* [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ecb60d5341.65451402.jpg[/img] *Afterward, click on Continue!*1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment62d713e79341f01
NekonyancerIt should now show the *second floor* of the building! We don't know what any of the rooms are yet, but there's a *[red]stair token*[/red] on the top-left room! That's the *same position* as the stairs room on the first floor! You can see where I'm going with this, right?2tile_2262d713e79341f00generic_token_76 1
Nekonyancer*Click on "Move" at the top! Then click on this tile to move upstairs!*3tile_2262d713e79341f10tile_22 16
Nekonyancer*Welcome to the second floor!* There's another *safe* somewhere on this floor, and... wait! [green]*We're already on it!*[/green] Jeez, the architect was really asking for a heist, wasn't he?1tile_2262d713ffc39bf00tile_22 8
NekonyancerNext, we have to crack this safe the same way to cracked the first one. That means we'll have to uncover [red]*all these tiles*[/red], add dice to the safe tile, and then roll them a few times! Once we have the loot from this safe too, we just have to find another staircase leading to the roof! [green]*Then we win!*[/green] :D2tile_2262d713ffc39bf00tile_26 6 tile_8 6 tile_12 6 tile_3 6 tile_14 6 tile_7 6
NekonyancerIt won't be as easy on this floor though! The *[blue]walls*[/blue] here are in more difficult locations, and the guard on this floor is *faster!* He has a default speed of 3, not 2!3guard_token_11362d713ffc39bf00wall_9 2 wall_10 2 wall_11 2 wall_12 2 wall_13 2 wall_14 2 wall_15 2 wall_16 2
NekonyancerI just have one more quick thing to show you... *Go ahead and end your turn.*1button_pass62d71405a53d410
NekonyancerDid you notice? The guard on the second floor moved at the end of your turn, but the guard on the first floor *did not.* [red]After each player's turn, only the guard on that player's floor will move![/red] If you're clever enough, you can twist this rule to your advantage!1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment62d71408245dd00
NekonyancerOh, there's one more important thing: *special events.* If you end your turn with *two or more actions remaining,* you'll trigger a special event! [green]Some events are good for the Bros, but others just mess up your plans![/green]2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment62d71408245dd00
NekonyancerOkay, that's everything you need to know! Oh, and there are several menus of options in the game lobby, but they're all clearly labeled. You can experiment with them on your own!3archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment62d71408245dd00
Nekonyancer[blue]*Thank you for playing through this tutorial for Burgle Bros!*[/blue] If you have any questions or comments about the tutorial, feel free to send *Nekonyancer* a message! A big thank you goes out to *baritonehands* and *cpasbanal* for bringing this game to BGA! Have fun! :D4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment62d71408245dd00
