Nekonyancer[img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed2073d7c4.55946875.jpg[/img] You are a Bunny Lord, conquering a new world on behalf of the Bunny King! [green][tip] This tutorial is best viewed on a computer![/green]1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
NekonyancerYou will need to get the best of what these lands have to offer. *Explore* the furthest corners, construct *cities,* farm *Resources* to make your Fiefs prosper, and accumulate precious *Golden Carrots.* Don’t forget to satisfy the King by accomplishing *Missions* of the utmost discretion on behalf of His Majesty!2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
NekonyancerBunny Kingdom is a card-drafting game that takes place over [red]four rounds.[/red] [blue]Each round has two distinct phases:[/blue] - Drafting. - Construction. The *Drafting phase* is the most significant part of the game. Let's jump right in!3Component_default_23917000
NekonyancerAt the beginning of the Drafting Phase, each player is dealt *10/10/12* cards for a *2/3/4* player game. There are [red]two different drafting procedures,[/red] depending on the number of players.4Component_default_23917000
NekonyancerIn *2-player games,* each player will follow [blue]these 3 steps each turn:[/blue] *- Add* one card to their hand. (That's why we have 11 cards right now!) *- Select* one card to play and one card to discard. *- Pass* the remainder of the hand to the opponent.5archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
Nekonyancer*3/4 player* games are a bit simpler. Players don't add anything to their hands. They simply select two cards to play, then pass the hand.6archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
Nekonyancer[blue]Let's learn about the cards![/blue] The first kind is *Territory cards.* These have *coordinates* in the top-left corner. If you hover over them, their corresponding territories will be highlighted on the map! [green]Go ahead, try it![/green] If we *play* one, we'll immediately place one of our bunnies in that territory, claiming it for His Majesty *forever!*7Component_default_21513000
NekonyancerSome territories produce *resources.* This is indicated by an icon at the center-top of the corresponding card! [blue]*i4,*[/blue] for instance, produces fish! [green]*H10*[/green] produces wood! *E4* produces nothing.8Component_default_29408000
NekonyancerLet's start by claiming the [blue]*i4 territory.*[/blue] *Simply click on the card!* Next, we have to select one to discard. *Click on the [green]H10[/green] card!* Finally, *click on "Confirm" at the top!*9Component_default_29408010
Nekonyancer*Great!* We now have a bunny on [blue]*I4,*[/blue] so the territory is *permanently* under our control. Note the [blue]*fish icon*[/blue] in the top-left corner of the territory. Since we threw away H10, that territory on the map has been [red]*crossed off.*[/red]1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment647fd00c57c0700
NekonyancerAfter we claimed the territory, we *passed* the remainder of our hand to our opponent and got their hand in return! Then we added one card to the hand (only in 2-player games, remember).2Component_default_32555647fd00c57c0700
NekonyancerNext, look at this card with a *shield* in the corner. It's a *Building Card!* Building cards let us place buildings on territories we control. This particular building is a *city.* The number on the shield is *not* a coordinate. It marks the [red]*strength of the city.*[/red] (More on strength later!)3Component_default_32555647fd00c57c0700
Nekonyancer*Select the 2-strength city!* *Discard i7!* *Click on "Confirm" at the top!*4Component_default_32555647fd00c57c0710
NekonyancerUnlike the territory card that we selected before, *building* cards do not trigger immediately. They'll sit in [blue]*this row*[/blue] until the drafting phase is over. (You might need to scroll down to see it.) We'll place the buildings during the [blue]*Construction Phase!*[/blue]1Component_default_32555647fd02b9226900BKPlayerTableCards11941354 2
NekonyancerThis is a *resource card,* which can be used to add a resource to a space you control, provided it is the proper terrain type. If you take a look at the board, you'll see that this particular resource can't be found anywhere! That means this is a rare *luxury resource!* Hm... This one can only go on mountain spaces though, and I don't know if we'll end up with any this round. Let's let this one go.3Component_default_27084647fd02b9226900
NekonyancerSome territories, like J3, already have cities placed on them! These pre-placed cities always have [red]*1 strength.*[/red] Just like normal territory cards, selecting such a card means placing a bunny on the corresponding space. *Select J3. Discard the card on its right. Confirm your turn.*4Component_default_22490647fd02b9226910
Nekonyancer*Great!* We've learned about *resources, cities, and strength,* but what's the point of it all? Well, at the end of each round, each player's *fiefs* will produce golden 🥕 (victory points).1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment647fd0501ce0c00
NekonyancerA *fief* is a group of connected territories under one player's control. To be connected, they must *share one side* with another controlled territory. Looks like our territories on *i4* and *J3* share a corner, but not a side, so they aren't connected. [green]We'll need to acquire i3 or J4 to merge them into a fief![/green]2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment647fd0501ce0c00
NekonyancerWhen fiefs are scored, the number of [blue]*different resources*[/blue] produced by the fief is multiplied by the [red]*strength*[/red] of all the cities in the fief. The resulting product is the fief's 🥕 (victory points). So if we connect *i4* and *J3,* we'll have [red]*1 strength*[/red] and [blue]*1 resource,*[/blue] producing a total of [green]*1 🥕 per round!*[/green]3archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment647fd0501ce0c00
NekonyancerBy the way, if you forget how much strength your cities have, just count the *towers!* [red]Each tower means 1 strength![/red]4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment647fd0501ce0c00
NekonyancerLet's get back to the cards. Ooh, there's another kind of *building* card here - a *camp* card! When we play a camp, we can place a camp token and one of our bunnies on *any* territory on the board, gaining control of it - *but not permanent control!* !!! [red]If an opponent plays the coordinate card for that territory, they can kick us out![/red]5Component_default_21028647fd0501ce0c00
NekonyancerCamps are perfect for connecting our territories together into wealthy fiefs! *Select the camp card. Discard D8. Confirm.*6Component_default_21028647fd0501ce0c10
NekonyancerAgain, camps are a type of *building,* so we'll place it when we're finished drafting.1Component_default_21028647fd074bc41e00
NekonyancerThe *Provisions* card is special. It lets you immediately draw and play two random cards. Let's do it! *Select Provisions.* (The card on the far right.) *Discard the card on its left. Confirm.*1Component_default_24010647fd09e0774710
NekonyancerIt gave us another camp and a [blue]*Parchment card.*[/blue] Parchment cards are *missions.* They're a great way to earn some extra points! [green]This one grants 2 points per fish we produce. Awesome, we already have 1 fish![/green]1Component_default_28737647fd0d2d362700
NekonyancerParchment cards are always played *face-down.* Our opponent knows that we played one, but they won't see what it is until the end of the game!2Component_default_28737647fd0d2d362700
NekonyancerThere's one more kind of building I need to show you - [blue]*Sky Towers!*[/blue] When you play one of these cards, you get *two* sky towers to place on your territories. Those two territories are then considered [green]*adjacent,*[/green] no matter how far apart they are!3Component_default_31076647fd0d2d362700
Nekonyancer*Select the Sky Tower card in the middle. Discard F10. Confirm!*4Component_default_31076647fd0d2d362710
NekonyancerI'll fast-forward a bit now...1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment647fd10b635e800
NekonyancerOkay, that's the end of the [red]*Drafting phase!*[/red] It's time for the [blue]*Construction Phase!*[/blue]1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment647fd163a6b9700
NekonyancerFirst, take a look at the board. We have four territories - *i4, J3, C2, and C4.* We won't score any points unless we can connect them together into fiefs. We should approach the [blue]*Construction Phase*[/blue] with that in mind!2BKBoardsViewport_ConfigPanel647fd163a6b9700
NekonyancerLet's start by playing our *camps.* This part is a little buggy, so I'll go ahead and select one of them for you...3BKBoardsViewport_ConfigPanel647fd163a6b9700
NekonyancerAs you can see, camps can be placed anywhere except on territories already owned by a player! *Place this one on i3!*4BKBoardsViewport_ConfigPanel647fd169eeb1810
Nekonyancer*Great!* We connected i4, i3, and J3 together to make a fief! *Now place the other camp on C3!*1BKBoardsViewport_ConfigPanel647fd171f09f910
NekonyancerExcellent, we have two separate fiefs now. Next, we have a [red]*3-strength city*[/red] to place. 3-strength cities can only be placed on mountains! *Click on C2!*1BKBoardsViewport_ConfigPanel647fd180c9fa510
Nekonyancer[blue]Excellent![/blue] Lastly, let's place the [blue]Sky Towers[/blue] to connect our two fiefs together! We can't place these on our camps or cities because each territory can only accommodate 1 building. *Place the first Sky Tower on i4...*1BKBoardsViewport_ConfigPanel647fd18a0211a10
Nekonyancer... *and the other one on C4!*1BKBoardsViewport_ConfigPanel647fd18c36adf10
NekonyancerThat's all our buildings! *Click on [blue]"I'm Done"[/blue] at the top!*1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment647fd1966dc2a10
Nekonyancer*Excellent! * Our combined fief had [red]*4 strength*[/red] in it (1 from J3, 3 from C2) and [blue]*1 type of resource*[/blue] (fish). [green]*4 x 1 = 4 🥕!*[/green]1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment647fd1fb4667d00
NekonyancerThat was the end of the round, so everyone was dealt a new hand for [blue]Round 2![/blue] That's pretty much it! The game will continue as you've seen for a total of *four rounds.* [green]At the end of the fourth round, whoever has the most 🥕 wins![/green]2Component_default_25659647fd1fb4667d00
NekonyancerThere are just a couple more things I couldn't squeeze in earlier... first of all, there are some building cards that let you place *extra resources* onto territories. [blue]They look like this:[/blue] [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed2093be28.44341585.jpg[/img] It's a little hard to see, but there's a [green]*forest symbol*[/green] attached to the shield in the corner. It shows that it can only be placed on forests.3archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment647fd1fb4667d00
NekonyancerAlso, did you notice the [red]*lava flows*[/red] on the board? [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed20b1c9e0.31502950.jpg[/img] Lava flows *separate* territories. If we controlled *i8* and *J8,* for instance, it wouldn't count as a fief! Okay, that's everything!4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment647fd1fb4667d00
Nekonyancer[blue]*Thank you for playing through this tutorial for Bunny Kingdom!*[/blue] If you have any questions or comments about the tutorial, feel free to send *Nekonyancer* a message! A big thank you goes out to *BaronFraser* for bringing this game to BGA! Have fun! :D5archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment647fd1fb4667d00
