I change this ticket into a suggestion rather than a bug.
The absence of this feature is likely to lose this player to the app.

Yeah, the game is just few hours long, why not making it even longer with checking a log for every card insted of showing it? Civil cards in hand should be visible by default, the strategy of the game doesn't revolve around it. If you ask for hidden civil cards you are just a tryhard who doesn't want to have fun with an honest challenge.
I would not mind it being optional either.
We are discussing a GUI convenience feature, it does not change the game rules. If a choice must be made to use it or not, this should be a PLAYER choice, not a GM choice, either as an option (like those blue areas for automation features in Puerto Rico or Terra Mystica) or simply because displaying other players' civil cards requires an action. If you don't want to see other players' cards, you just don't click/hover on this feature.
That would really make everyone happy. :)
if i scroll down the log far enough, i can exactly determine what civil cards are in each players hand.
so, logical conclusion would be to make the information available for turn-based play and optionally available for real-time play.
deciding whether showing cards should be the option before creating a game.
