ScribalAll of your wizards need to gather at [red]*Ravenskeep*[/red], as quickly as possible. In the excitement of learning new spells, they have failed to prepare and each of their bottles are empty! They cannot show up at *Ravenskeep* with empty bottles. In a 2/3/4/5/6 player game, you'll need to get your team of 5/4/4/3/3 wizards to *Ravenskeep* while filling your 6/5/5/4/4 bottles. The first player to complete both tasks triggers the end game.4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

ScribalWe'll be the first player. On your turn, you'll have 3 available options. - Play a Movement Card (up to 2 actions) - Cast a Spell - Push a Tower (single action) [blue][tip] Casting a Spell is a free action, but requires magic potions. ScribalAction 1 - Play Movement --- The most common action you'll take on your turn is to play a movement card. Click [red]*play movement*[/red] at the top and then click continue.6wtw_potionCargo-96564609

ScribalWe need to select a movement card. Each card in our hand will move a tower or a wizard. Some cards will give you the option to move either, and we'll see some of those a little later. We are trying to get each of our wizards into [red]*Ravenskeep*[/red] and all standard movement goes clockwise.7wtw_potionCargo-96564609

ScribalLet's take a closer look at our [blue]*hand of cards*[/blue]. On the left, we have a card that will move a single wizard 1 space clockwise. On the right is a card that will move a single wizard 5 spaces clockwise. In the middle, we have a card that will move a tower, and any wizards on it, 3 spaces clockwise.8wtw_potionCargo-96564609

ScribalCongratulations! We've taken our first action, moving a tower 3 spaces, along with the 3 wizards sitting on it. Let's look at what else that did.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

ScribalWe trapped one of our opponent's wizards and they will be unable to move that wizard into Ravenskeep without freeing it first.2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

ScribalLet's look at our [blue]*bottles*[/blue]. Whenever a wizard is trapped, magical energy is collected and fills a bottle. [red][tip] It does not matter whose wizard, or how many are trapped, you will always fill one bottle when trapping wizards.[/red] Step 10/433archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

ScribalOn most of our turns, we'll take 2 actions. Since we have filled one of our bottles, we can cast a spell, but I don't think it would really benefit us, now. Click *play movement* and press continue.4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

ScribalLet's move our only wizard on the left most tower, as pictured below, so that it is standing with more of our wizards. ScribalEach visible spot can have up to 6 wizards standing on it. After selecting a card, if you are ever unable to move a wizard or tower into a spot, it will be greyed out and you will be unable to select that game piece. ScribalWe've played both of our actions for this turn. We can still cast a spell as a free action, but we'll look at spells later in the tutorial. Click *pass*.2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

ScribalOur opponent moved a stack of towers. When moving a stack of towers, we can choose how many towers to move. We'll look at that more closely later in the tutorial.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

ScribalLet's take a look at this movement card in the middle of our hand. It will allow us to move either a *tower* or a *wizard*, but it has a die on it, instead of a number. When this card is played, a die will be rolled and that is the movement that can be applied to either a tower or wizard. Let's go ahead and play that card, now. Click *play movement*, select the middle card, and *confirm move*.1wtw_move-20-front

ScribalIt's time to play another movement card, but you're already familiar with the movement cards, so let's skip ahead to our next turn to learn something new.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

ScribalNone of our wizards are currently visible. I hope you've been watching the tower movements and have an idea where our wizards are. It's time to look at one of the other options on our turn. Step 20/431archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

ScribalOption 2 - Push a Tower --- At the start of our turn, if we don't have any movement cards we want to play, we discard our entire hand and push a tower one space. Click *push a tower (discards hand)* at the top and click continue.2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

ScribalThere are only 3 towers available and one of them is very tall, 7 tiers. The [red]*number at the bottom of the tower*[/red] let's you know how tall it is. ScribalWere you watching the tower get stacked? Do you have an idea of where our wizards might be? At the top, we are prompted to select the number of tiers that we want to move. Click the 1 to just move the top tier and see what is under it.4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

ScribalIn a game with the beginner setup like we have here, the same 2 spells are the only ones available. We can spend 2 potions to *Advance a Wizard* 1 space (left spell), or we can spend 1 potion to *Advance a Tower* 2 spaces (right spell). ScribalI hope you said *Advance a Tower*. At the top, press *cast spell* and you'll see both spells available to us are the only ones lit up. Click *Advance a Tower* on the right to select it and then click continue.3wtw_spell-3-front

ScribalLet's break up the large tower more to see if we can free our other 2 wizards. Click on the middle tower with the 6 under it and when you're asked how many tiers you want to move, click 2.4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

ScribalRats! I could have sworn that was going to free another wizard. Oh well. Notice that we only have one magic potion and while we started with 6 bottles, we only have 5. The bottle we used to cast the spell was discarded and we do not need to refill it. [blue][tip] Some spells will let you move counter clockwise.[/blue]1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

ScribalOur closest wizards are now 6 spaces from *Ravenskeep*. I hope we can get there before our opponent does!2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

ScribalOur opponent is only 1 space away from Ravenskeep and I see that we have a new card to look at. The card on the right is close to one we've seen before, but if you look at the icon in the corner, it has 2 dice on it. Click *play movement*, select the right card, and confirm move. ScribalSince this card has 2 dice on it, we get 1 free reroll. I don't like the 2, so let's reroll it. Click *Reroll* to see if we get something better.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

ScribalWe got a 1. Normally, you might be disappointed rerolling a 2 and getting a 1, but in this instance a 1 is better. Click on the tower that has our 3 wizards on it to imprison our opponent's wizard and tell BGA to move 1 tier.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

ScribalWe are almost done with this tutorial. Let's get our first wizard into *Ravenskeep* by moving 1 of our wizards 5 spaces. This step didn't work correctly in the tutorial, so just click continue and I'll move the wizard for you.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

ScribalDid I forget to mention that the finish line for this race is always moving? When we placed our first wizard in *Ravenskeep*, it moved to the spot pictured below. [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img68aa229023bf15.32767525.jpg[/img] When a wizard enters *Ravenskeep*, it will move to the next spot with the raven crest on it, which may be a tower or it may be terrain like the spot pictured. There's one small exception.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

ScribalOur 2 visible wizards are sitting on top of a crest. [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img68aa2295c0a8f4.52192797.jpg[/img] If that had been the next crest in the line, *Ravenskeep* would have skipped that spot and continued to the next crest. *Ravenskeep* will never land on a wizard. [blue][tip] Moving a wizard into Ravenskeep will end your turn, even if you've only taken one action.[/blue]2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

ScribalWhen *Ravenskeep* lands on a tower, you are able to move that tower and *Ravenskeep* with it.3archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

ScribalIf you look at our player panel, we have 1 wizard in *Ravenskeep* and 3 empty bottles. As I mentioned earlier, the end game is triggered when a player gets all of their wizards to *Ravenskeep* and has filled all of their bottles. The round finishes. If another player is able to complete both goals, the one that has the most unused potions remaining is the winner.4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

ScribalIf only 1 player was able to complete both goals, they are the winner. Before we finish the tutorial, let's look at how the solo game changes and what options we have when starting a table.5archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

ScribalIn a solo game, you'll have 12 wizards and you need to get all of them into *Ravenskeep* before running out of cards. With this implementation, if you don't complete it in 30 cards, you'll automatically lose. When setting up a solo game, you can chose to play with spells or without. If you choose to disable the spells, you will not have any bottles to fill.6archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

ScribalIf you choose to play with spells, you can have BGA choose 3 random spells for you, or you can decide to pick them yourself. If you play with spells, you will need to fill 6 bottles and get your 12 wizards into *Ravenskeep* in 30 cards to win. Step 40/437archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

ScribalWhen you create a multiplayer table, you have several options regarding spells: Beginner, Random, All, Manual. Beginner will only have the 2 spells we had available to us in the tutorial. If you select random, you will be able to have BGA select up to 6 spells. Manual will let you choose which spells you want.8archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment
