TorselliWelcome to *Sea Salt & Paper*, a hand management game with a push-your-luck twist - and amazing art! The goal of the game is to have *the most points*. When a player reaches a determined amount of points (40/35/30 for 2/3/4 players) the endgame is triggered, and the player with most points is *the winner*! The game is played in *rounds*, and points are scored at the end of each round. 1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

TorselliOn your turn you do the following actions: *[blue]1. Draw (mandatory)[/blue]* You can draw *1 card* from *one* of the discard piles *OR* You can draw *2 cards* from the deck and discard one. TorselliThe deck has 4 kinds of cards: [green]*Duo Cards*[/green] [green]*Collector Cards*[/green] [green]*Multiplier Cards*[/green] [green]*Mermaids Cards*[/green] We'll explain each kind of card during the tutorial. 3archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

Torselli[green]*Duo Cards*[/green] Duo Cards are cards that have two distinct functions in the game: - They're scored *in pairs* - 1 point per pair. - They can be *played* (also in pairs) to trigger *their effect*.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

TorselliThese are the *kinds* of [green]*Duo Cards*[/green] and their *effects* when played: *Crab:* draw a card from a discard pile; *Boat:* take another turn; *Fish:* draw the top card of the deck; *Shark/Swimmer:* steal a card from another player. [tip] You can see a summary of each card hovering the cursor over it, and of *all* cards by clicking on the *?* at the bottom-left of the screen. 2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

TorselliWhen you draw cards from the deck, you have to choose in which discard pile you want to place the card you didn't keep. The [red]*highlighted*[/red] numbers show how many cards there are in each discard pile. !!! If one of the discard piles is empty, you *must* place the card on it. 1discard1-counter

Torselli[green]*Collector Cards*[/green] These cards give you *points* at the end of the round based on the number of *copies* you have. There are 4 kinds of collector cards: *Shell*, *Octopus*, *Penguin* and *Sailor*. !!! The numbers on the left shows the points for 1/2/3... cards of the same type. 1card-13

TorselliThere's another *boat* card on a discard pile. As you already have one boat, you'll be able to play *duo cards*. Click on the *yellow boat* to take it.1card-5

Torselli[blue]*Playing Duo Cards (Optional)*[/blue] Now that you have a pair of boats in your hand, you can play it. The *boat* special effect is *to take another turn*. [tip] The colors of the cards do not matter when playing *[green]duo cards*[/green].1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

TorselliNow you have another *[green]Duo Cards*[/green] pair: the fish. When played, you'll *receive the top card of the deck*. 1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

TorselliBefore continuing, take a look at the *player area*. On top, you have the cards *in your hand*. On bottom, the cards *on your table* [green]*Duo Cards*[/green] previously played. In the middle, you have your name and the *total points* you have right now, counting the cards both *in your hand* and *on the table*. 2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

TorselliAs you can see, right now you have *2 points* - one for the pair of boats on the table, the other one for the pair of fishes in your hand. Your octopus isn't scoring yet (you need at least 2 to score 3 points). These *card points* will be *very* important for ending the round - you'll see it in a while... 3archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

TorselliSelect the *two fishes* and play them. 4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

Torselli*[green]The Mermaids*[/green] You got a Mermaid! The mermaid scores *1 point* for each card of the *color you have the most*. Right now it scores *2 points* for your 2 yellow cards. If you have 2/3 Mermaids, they will score the 2/3 colors you have the most. !!! But if at *any moment* you have all the 4 Mermaids, you instantly *win the game*!2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

Torselli*[green]Multiplier Cards[/green]* The *Multiplier Cards* will give you points for a specific kind of card. There are four kinds of multipliers: *The Lighthouse* - 1 point / boat card; *The Shoal of Fish* - 1 point / fish card; *The Penguin Colony* - 2 points / penguin card; *The Captain* - 3 points / sailor card. 1card-48

TorselliWhen you have *7 or more points* in cards (both in hand and/or on the table), you may *[blue]end the round*[/blue]. There are *three* options: *Not ending the round* - do you think you can score more points than your opponents with some more turns? You can continue playing - just click on *End Turn* button and the game will continue. 1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

Torselli*End Round - STOP* - The round will end immediately. Each player will score the card points they have in hand/on the table. *End Round - LAST CHANCE* - You're *betting* that you'll have more points than all the other players. Each other player will take *one more turn*, and then the scoring will proceed. 2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

TorselliIf you have higher points (or tied higher) than your opponents, you will score your card points and a *color bonus*: 1 point / card you have the most color of. *Your opponents will score just the color bonus*. If you lose the bet (some other player has more points than you), *you score only your color bonus*, and all the other players score card points normally. 3archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

TorselliOh no! You took too much risk and our opponent called *End Round - STOP* before you. You earned 7 points and your opponent 9 points. Your points are: - 3 for three *duo cards* pairs: crab, fish, boat. - 1 for one *collector* penguin card - 3 for the *mermaid* (1 point/black card). Your opponent scored *9 points* - look at their cards and try to figure out the scoring!1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

TorselliThe points are added to the *total score*. The deck is shuffled and a new round begins. !!! If the deck is depleted, there's no scoring. The cards are reshuffled and a new round begins. When a player reaches the threshold (40 points in two players), the game will be over and *the player with the most points is the winner!*1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment
