JballenasHello and welcome to [green]Frame[/green][red]work[/red]! This is an abstract strategy game that will have 2-4 players constructing a grid of tiles in order to complete tasks and be the first person to play all of their tokens. [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed63bd2058.87472173.jpg[/img]1available-tiles001
JballenasThe game will take place over a various number of rounds, during which players will take turns drawing tiles from the supply to form the *offer*. The offer consists of tiles equal to the # of players + 1 (so in a 2 player game, you would draw 3 tiles). [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed63e0fa89.09635660.jpg[/img] 2available-tiles001
JballenasBeginning with the player who drew the tiles, each player will take a turn selecting a tile and placing it in their area, until all tiles in the offer have been taken (this means the player that started the round will get 2 tiles instead of 1). We'll get into what the tiles mean in a bit, but for now, let's get started!3available-tiles000
JballenasWe are going second, which means we'll only get one tile this round, better hope it's a good one! 4available-tiles000
JballenasGreat, now it's your turn! There are only two tiles left to choose from, but don't worry, that tile on the left looks good, go ahead and pick that one to add to your board.1tile_113659a44f4987bb10tile_113 1
Jballenas[green]Perfect[/green]! Once you've added the tile to your board and you're happy with its placement, click *Confirm* to end your turn. [tip] If you want to pick a different tile or a different placement, you can click *Undo* to put your tile back and select again. 1confirmTurnButton659a44f7aa51510confirmTurnButton 1
Jballenas[blue]Great[/blue]! Look at that, your first tile, take a moment and enjoy the fruits of your labor... Okay that's plenty long enough, it's just one tile after all.1tile_113659a44fa3d47200
JballenasNow that you've got a tile, let's talk about what they mean! There are 120 unique tiles that form the general supply, and each tile has two important details about them: -their *frames* and their *tasks*2tile_119659a44fa3d47201
JballenasLet's get started by discussing the frames. There are a total of *5* different colors that the frames can be, and each tile will have between 0 to 3 frames of various colors on them. These colors include: -red -brown -silver -gold -green [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed640e6ba8.45627899.jpg[/img]3tile_119659a44fa3d47201
JballenasGreat, now let's talk about the tasks, after all, that's the whole point of the game! Tasks are goals you can complete by placing enough tiles with the indicated number of colored frames connected to it. Complete enough tasks and you'll win the game! Just like before, the tiles will display between 0-3 tasks (the numbers at the center of the tiles). [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed6434e822.10240519.jpg[/img]4tile_119659a44fa3d47201
JballenasThere are *4* different types of tasks that can appear on tiles. They all involve wanting a certain number of colored frames connected to the tile with the task on it. For now, let's focus on yours!5available-tiles659a44fa3d47201
JballenasThis *task* shows a 3 that is split with a black line and has two colors, brown and silver. This means you would either need at least *3 brown frames* [red]or[/red] *3 silver frames* connected to the tile in order to complete the task. [tip] Note: Tiles with this task type only ever have a single task on them. [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed6455cec6.55840882.jpg[/img]9tile_113659a44fa3d47200
JballenasAlright, so keep an eye out for brown or sliver frames, simple! Let's go to the next round. You're starting, which means you'll get to pick two tiles from the offer.11tile_119659a44fa3d47201
JballenasWell [red]hot dog[/red]! Do you see what I see?! *THREE SILVER FRAMES*! That's how many you need to complete the task on your tile! ...you thinking what I'm thinking?2tile_27659a45034ac5100tile_27 6 tile_13 6
Jballenas[green]PINEAPPLE ON PIZZA IS AMAZ[/green]... Err... oh, yeah, what you said. Let's try to get those 2 tiles with the silver frames so you can complete your task.3tile_27659a45034ac5100tile_27 1 tile_13 1
JballenasStart with the tile on the right and place it *above the tile* already in your play area. As long as your opponent doesn't pick the other tile with the silver frame, then you'll be able to complete your first task!5tile_13659a45034ac5110tile_13 17
JballenasI'll go ahead and confirm the placements from here on out, you just sit back and relax :)1confirmTurnButton659a4510ea28400
Jballenas[green]Perfect[/green]! The tile you need is still there! Select and place it to the *left of your top tile*. 2tile_27659a451e82a0d10tile_27 16
Jballenas[green]WOOHOO[/green]! Did you see that?! You completed the task, and that let you place one of your tokens on it to show that it's been completed!1tile_20659a452c548ee01
JballenasNow that you're a pro at completing tasks, let's finish covering the over 3 task types!2available-tiles659a452c548ee01
JballenasThis is your basic task, it just requires that you have *at least* as many colored frames connected to the tile as the number shown. In the case below, there are 3 tasks: -one for having 4 connected red frames -one for having 5 connected silver frames -one for having 6 connected green frames You can complete any number of these tasks, and in any order! [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed64af1d90.01036907.jpg[/img]3available-tiles659a452c548ee01
JballenasThe next task type shows the number with *two* colors instead of just one! This means you can use *any* combination of frames in those colors to complete the task. In the tile below, the highlighted task would need any combination of at least 6 green or gold frames to be connected to it. !!! Note: *Both* colors must have a direct connection to the task tile (one color frame *cannot* connect to the task tile through a different color frame) Like before, you can complete as many of the tasks listed on this tile, and in any order! [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed64c90a42.23347884.jpg[/img]4available-tiles659a452c548ee01
JballenasThis final task type requires the first task (on the left) to be completed before you can complete the second task (on the right). If you already have the second task satisfied when you complete the first task, then you get to immediately place tokens on both tasks! [tip] Note: Tiles with this task type only ever have a single task on them. [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed64e1d666.58349236.jpg[/img]5available-tiles659a452c548ee01
JballenasHere's an example of a more developed board with explanations on the tasks that have been completed. In this example, the following tasks are completed: 6 brown frames (center, 2nd from left) 3 green frames (center, 3rd from left) 3 brown frames (center, far right) The task “8 brown frames” (center, 2nd from left) is not fulfilled because the two brown frames at the top right have no direct connection to the task. [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed647a71b3.17537778.jpg[/img]8tile_20659a452c548ee01
JballenasAnd that's the whole game! You'll continue taking turns placing tiles in your play area and completing tasks until someone becomes the first player to place their final token. At this point, the game immediately ends and that person is the winner! If no one has won by the time all the tiles have been used, then whoever completed the most tasks is the winner!9tile_20659a452c548ee01
Jballenas[blue]Thank you for playing through this tutorial for *Framework*[/blue]! If you have any questions or comments about the tutorial, feel free to send *Jballenas* a message! And of course, a big shout out and thank you to *Sarix87* and *vurtan* for bringing this game to BGA! Have fun, and good luck completing all your tasks in [red]*Framework*[/red]! :)11tile_20659a452c548ee01
