gideon142*Forks* (2nd edition) is a fast-paced party game for 2-6 players about investing into different locations. [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed96bdc974.69843339.jpg[/img]1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
gideon142The 5 different locations are shown in the middle, this is called the *middle market.* At the start of the game 3 cards are put into the market. [red] the numbers above each location [/red] show how many people are staying at each location.2forks_card-16000forks_marketing-score-grey 1 forks_marketing-score-blue 1 forks_marketing-score-yellow 1 forks_marketing-score-green 1 forks_marketing-score-red 1
gideon142The game is played over 3-4 short rounds (depending on the player count.) In each round you are dealt [blue] 3 cards into your hand, [/blue] you put 1 into your personal pile then pass the other 2 to the next player.3forks_card-35000forks_my-dealt 2
gideon142the best card to keep right now is the [red] red-rock ridge card [/red] because there are already 12 people staying at the site so it has a good chance of scoring well (more on that later)4forks_card-49000forks_card-49 4
gideon142Now, we receive the 2 cards our opponent discarded, which are the [green] green 6 [/green] and the [red] red 7. [/red] We once again choose what card to keep, in this case, the red card again.1forks_card-3866240d1d4882e00
gideon142!!! The twist is that the final discarded cards at the end of the round *move into the market.*2forks_card-1666240d27510c000
gideon142After each round, 1 more card is added to the market, (only in 2 player games) and the next round starts.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment66240d2a7b1ba00
gideon142The scoring works as follows: The 3 locations with the highest number of people staying at them score you points. The other 2 locations score *negative points.*1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment66240d3b0f49600
gideon142*The amount of points you score depends on how much you have invested into each location.* [red](shown on the player panel) [/red] For example, if you have 13 points in the red location and red is one of the positive point locations, you will score 13 points.2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment66240d3b0f49600player_board_85761427 1
gideon142A few other rules are, points are only calculated at the end of the game not after individual rounds. Ties are broken as shown in the card below or in the card in the top left. [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ed96ddc742.65245511.jpg[/img]3archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment66240d3b0f49600forks_tie-breaker 1
gideon142Knowing how the scoring works now, which do you think is the better card to discard here?1forks_card-1766240d3cb2aac00
gideon142[tip] Because we already have 13 points in [red] red-rock ridge [/red] we probably want to secure that as a positive location, so discarding that card and putting in the market is better.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment66240d481cba800
gideon142Let's go through the 3rd round and i'll explain what and why each move is the best in that scenario so you can learn from that.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment66240d4a2442a00
gideon142*Here taking the yellow card is best*. the grey card is bad to take because there are currently 0 people staying at the grey location. The blue card is better to discard so it has a chance of getting into the market.2forks_card-466240d4a2442a00
gideon142This is a tougher choice. yellow currently would be a negative location and we have invested 6 into it so *discarding the yellow is probably better.* Taking the green into our pile isn't so bad either because green has a decent chance of scoring positively.1forks_card-2866240d5d33e8e00
gideon142I think you can understand how the game works now so i'll end the tutorial here. Good luck investing!1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment66240d6a62b8d00
gideon142Thanks for playing my tutorial. If you find any problems in this tutorial feel free to send me (gideon142) a message. Thanks to *pdw3* for the BGA adaption of this game :)2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment66240d6a62b8d00
