Detailed description
• Please copy/paste the error message you see on your screen, if applicable.
Since 2021, BGA has banned all tournaments of games like chess and Hardback where it's relatively easy for a user to cheat by plugging the game state into external helper software. (boardgamearena.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=320&t=22201&start=16#p95250)
If you try to create such a tournament now, you get (in response to entering the game name) a little crash page that says "Sorry, an unexpected error has occurred... / This game cannot have tournaments / (reference: ST 03/06 08:38:50)".
It's fair enough to ban public competitions where a cheater can always barge in and take first place, but it would be nice to have the option to still open a private tournament between a group of friends who trust each other not to cheat.
Would suggest just greying out the "Everyone" option for "Who can register?" on these tournament setup screens, with an explanation for why that's the case - perhaps prominently enough that someone who's setting up a private tournament would think twice about whether anyone they intend to invite might try to cheat it.• Please explain what you wanted to do, what you did and what happened
