Report history
•Players will get to draft one starting apprentice in reverse turn order (Page 3 of Age of Artisans rulebook).
•When placing a Worker on the 3rd slot in the first 3 rows of the Guildhall discard both Apprentices in the left-most column on the Main Board and refill the empty spaces as normal. Any Silver on discarded Apprentice Cards should be returned to the Supply (Page 4 of Age of Artisans rulebook).
As described above, the rule changes have to be stated somewhere!
You're linking to a different version of the rules. This is confusing.
Like probably many other players of Architects of the West Kingdom, I've never played with an expansion. So when I opened up the BGA version and tried to play I was immediately confused why it was asking me to draft an apprentice. Confusion is never the reaction you should want from players.
I thought I'd been playing the game wrong all this time, so had to go back and check the rules, spent ages reading through them, only to find there was no mention of this rule. Then searched around the web until I finally found something mentioning it as a rule from an expansion.
That is a very poor user experience for someone familiar with the game and trying to play it on BGA. Like many other games on here, the rule changes really need to be implemented as options that can be selected when starting the game, as it's very confusing otherwise - especially seeming as the linked base game rules make no mention of those changes.
Fantastic work on the implementation otherwise though, this is the only issue I've found so far.
having it be an additional option would further divide the people playing on BGA (symmetric/asymmetric), and this is a good change.
I agree that this is not a bug as it is by design, perhaps a design choice that you don't like.
Fantastic implementation by the developer!
The problem is that this rule change is not stated anywhere any player would see it before playing.
But this being said, we should mention this in the "how to play" wiki and everyone can change the wiki of his own language.
Also, if there is a small text or file somewhere with just the changes, we might add a link to it in the rules section.
I'll leave all that to someone else as I'm not really playing this game.
