I would love to have each one separate if we continue to get more maps. It would be easier to find players for specific maps too by keeping them separate.

It'd definitely help some map specialists and have different names atop the TTR rankings.
Mega, 1910 and Big Cities would also benefit from separate rankings considering the number of players on base TTR. That would definitely level the field.

I fully support this post. Also, I decided not to renew my premium subscription because 1910 was included in the EU arena. This affects those players who do not want to collect more than 3 tickets. For example, I want to win strategically and not rely on luck.

In one day 13 bugs where created for TTR Switzerland (About 2 Swiss rules not known by new players).
These bugs in BGA bug part for TTR USA are not visible because the default sort shows the more voted bugs that are all about TTR USA !

If Switzerland was not with USA, looking for TTR Switzerland bugs will have shown the opened bugs from Switzerland only.

Another benefit of putting all the smaller maps together is you could do an Arena Season where the map is random each game. Kind of like Castles of Burgandy or Ark Nova where each player plays the same 'map'.

From a developer's perspective it does make sense to have it in the same game. I guess a lot of the code is just copy&pasted, and also translation mostly identical. I would even want to merge Europe in the original game. Differences are minimal.

Unfortunately, this a short-sighted proposal to a definite problem: I agree that Switzerland should not be lumped in with the USA board, but the solution should not simply to lump it in arbitrarily with other unrelated (future) maps. Instead, each map should be its own implementation on BGA so that it can benefit from a completely separate ELO, Arena, bug tracking, etc.

I would like to upvote this report, but the proposed solution means that I just can't.

The claim that differences are minimal is a subjective one; others claim that the differences are huge—just check out the (current) top answer to this question: boardgames.stackexchange.com/questions/1947/are-there-any-differences-between-the-ticket-to-ride-games-i-should-take-into-ac

Since I don't know how to objectively quantify such differences, I'll simply state that my personal suspicion that the level of difference is in the eye of the beholder.

As to your point that it makes sense from a developer's perspective, that may well be true, but I will suggest that we're not here for the developers, but rather for the games—and therefore that it is the /quality/ of the offering of the game (including a format that supports competition and its accompanying aspects such as ELO and the Arena) that should take precedence, and only secondarily should developers' considerations have any sway. "The game's the thing", as they say.

Another good point is that Ticket is for 2-5 players, but Switzerland only plays 2-3. That's another important distinction.

I would like to have all the other editions together or be able to select maps in the Europe edition too! It's a base game, so I don't see why it should be only here on the USA map which I don't play. I don't even have to mention how Switzerland is in Europe so it does make more sense. But TTR: Map Expansions where you can add all of them would be amazing so people would choose which ones they want to play and get a match more easily. Right now when there is only one map maybe it should be in both base versions added.

Please have TTR Switzerland as a standalone game like you have TTR Europe! It doesn't make sense at all to have it under TTR USA.

In 10 days, this suggestion is now in 28 position of the BGA site bugs!

During the same period of 10 days, more than 30 bugs were opened for TTR USA but in fact for Switzerland and new bugs continues to fall every days.
The reason is that the new TTR Switzerland players think that the rules are the same than for USA (or Europe) for locomotives and create bugs ignoring that there is a difference.

Another reason to have TTR Switzerland out of TTR USA (and Europe) : Today, it is possible to see TTR Switzerland in the home page of BGA in the new games. But in the future it will not be visible (without changes) and the BGA search for "Switzerland" gives no results, so the TTR Switzerland will not be known like present on BGA.

Note that with my special profile, "Switzerland" BGA search have a one result : TTR Switzerland ALPHA... that shows that initially TTR Switzerland was a real game not linked to TTR USA !

In 16 days, this suggestion is now in 19 position of the BGA website bugs (first page)!

During the same period of 16 days, about an hundred of bugs were opened for TTR USA but in fact they are for Switzerland and new bugs continues to fall every days.
The majority of these bugs is linked to the fact that Switzerland rules is different from USA (and Europe) rules even it looks like to be the same rules looking only the Map!
The other problem for new user is starting a Switzerland game is made from the same page than USA.

I suspect there are basically 3 "tribes" of TTR players.
1) The hardcore USA map fanatics.
2) The smaller but also fanatical Europe group (I used to be here.)
3) The people who want to play every map (this is where I am now.)

In real life I own all but 2 of the map packs. I love experimenting with the different variants. While there might be people who really love Ticket to Ride: Iberia above all else, I suspect 99% of the people who've even played it are those of us who buy all the different map packs and really love experimenting. This definitely isn't true for Europe or USA maps.

So this proposal really makes the most sense to me, there must be some Switzerland fans, but I'd bet a good chunk of the Switzerland fans are also interested in Legendary Asia or South Korea or Africa, while the same is pretty clearly not true of USA (or Europe?) fans.

TTR is a big game, it can stand a bit of fracturing, and this seems like a good middle ground.

I honestly don't see the problem getting solved by moving Switcherland to some other group of maps, it's then going to have same issue there with Arena once that group has more than one map. To fully solve this, each TTR map would need to be separate game on BGA.

Or alternatively, all TTR's would need to be one game and you just rotate the maps per arena season but I get how this would make many players mad.

I am aware the difference between physical versions and what is expansion and what is not, but if you look at other digital versions of this game (old PC version for example), it didn't really sort maps like physical full release or expansion, it just presented each expansion as same level item as full game.

I agree with making TTR Switzerland it's own standalone game on BGA. In fact I was one of the people who submitted a bug report because I had no idea the rules would have a couple key differences from USA and Europe. (It would help if these alternate rules were printed next to the map somehow.) I am quite enjoying playing this map now that I have figured out the differences. But I find that I have a higher percentage of opponents that decline to start a game, probably because they are expecting USA and see that the setting is Switzerland.

I stopped to play arena cause 1912 was included to arena.
And Swiss included to US - is not nice to me.
I would suggest to create Asia as separate map for example)

I agree, TTR Switzerland is an own standalone game on BGA, with key rules really different from USA and Europe. Don't mix like the maps like that, it won't be fun for the players who play Arena.

I would happily vote for each TTR map to be an individual map. Anything else doesn't make sense from a playing perspective. The only reason they're considered "expansions" in the physical world is so that you can share trains and train cards, and in the virtual world that's not a thing. Any solution that involves grouping more than one map together breaks ELO, breaks tournaments, breaks the Arena, breaks statistics, and makes the setup interface and rules sections more and more complicated as/if more maps are added. Even from the perspective of discoverability, it doesn't work. I am constantly telling other players that there are three maps available now, and they had no idea that it had even happened.

After a month, this suggestion is now in position 17th of the BGA web site bugs.

After more reflexion, I should have proposed for this suggestion that each TTR map should be a different game in BGA because the rules of each TTR map is different.

I have stopped my count of the TTR Switzerland bugs opened because new players continue to create a lot of bugs in BGA because they ignore the rules of Switzerland, thinking that they are the same as USA like in BGA, Switzerland is grouped with USA.

Now TTR Switzerland is no more in the news visible in the BGA home page !

Looking for "Switzerland” gives no results for game even TTR Switzerland is already implemented in BGA site !

So new BGA players will no know that TTR Switzerland is in BGA even they know well this game.
We can’t suppose that TTR Switzerland is in BGA. Only TTR USA and Europe seem to be in BGA.

Menettm cannot be more right about the fact that TTR Switzerland should be seperated from USA, since both have different rules. Drakestorm's idea of implementing a third group where the Arena's map change every season is pretty interesting, let's say we added Asia-Switz-India etc. However, I personnally think all maps should be considered as their own, giving each have particular rules, but for the time giving, the most important part is to get Switzerland out of USA !! Everything besides that for now is really not important.

Well it did not happen before this new Arena Season - maybe it will never happen. Or maybe when they do the next map, they will separate it.

I agree all maps should be a game on their own: rules and strategy are different, Elo can't reflect skill properly if you mix all the maps.
Having 1910 and 1912 mixed with their respective base games is already bad enough, entire maps are just too much

As noted in the forum: when I create Switzerland games I get matched with people who refuse the game. This alone is reason enough to split the TTRs.
Switzerland as a toggle for the USA map leads to confusion, and confusion leads to bad experiences with the BGA platform:
* games that get refused
* games that get abandoned
* games that are confusing
* clutter in the bug reporting, and extra work because of it
* ELO effects
* grumpy players
